Owning a welder no more makes you a welder anymore than owning a piano makes you a pianist.

I agree, and welding truck parts all day, doesn't make you a welder either.

I don't agree with it all comming down to operator performance. Although practice makes perfect, that doesn't substitute knowing the right combination of fillers and shielding. I don't use mild steel filler when welding Chromolly. I know that its acceptable (AWS) to TIG mild steel with Stainless filler, but not stainless with mild steel filler. I know using CO2 as a mild steel shielding gas is wrong unless its on your own junk. I would also never use a cold gas unless your welding really hot.

I have been welding for 20+ years, so when I see bad practice, I speak up. I am not a post whore, I only post what I know. If it gets me banned then so be it, from what I hear it not hard on this site.

Scuba is doing well, and we have talked about that on a different site. If tc feels burned then thats just too bad.

Take two identical pieces of material, two the same machines, two of the same welding material and shielding gasses, and two identical preps, in other words all things being equal, it all does come down to the skill of the person welding.

Looks kinda tall and tippy. When you get "real" casters, mount them outboard of the legs a bit ... you know, go with a full width axle swap

Well I got some $$ and got a couple wheels, I was going to put some rectangle bumpstops on the front 2 legs so it wouldnt move when on the drive way, But I decided I dont like having to lift it to move the damn thing..
