i found a frined of mine who will make me a custom slider and skid plate for just the cost of material . he is a seasoned metal fabricator but problem is, he never worked on cars. he builds custom commercial kitchens, burners, counter tops, tables, stainless steel hood, all steel stuff. no, he's not a carpenter.

so what i'm in need are plans for slider, made of 2" .120 squar tubing. and for skid plate or belly pan, 3/16" steel plate.

i've collected bunch of pictures from YT, some detailed plans can be a big help.

details of my rig is in my sig.

heres my flatbelly crossmember i made. To make the mounts i welded 3/16 tabs to a flat 4x4 1/8 peice of plate. the crossmember is all out of 3/16 square tube and flat plate




all bolted up and if you notice i cut and replased the crossmember behind my skid plate. the drive shaft will not interfer with it and it makes it so i didnt have to make a big hoop so the dshaft could fit.

it protects real nice and can easily holD the weight of my truck. keep in mind this is a complete flatbelly for dual cases but you can make it for a single or dual setup easily. this actualy puts my transmission up 1/8 inch atleast from the frame. alot of floorboard cutting was in order. if you want more pics let me know i also have pics of the crossbracing for the frame support i made behind the crossmember. sliders are pretty simple.

the skid plate is done, even it's made of 1/8" steel plate instead of 3/16", yet it's still plenty stronger than the stock. i'll take it off this weeked for some pictures. basically, it runs from the front crossmember all the way to the SS IFS truss. it worked very well when driving on the sandy beaches in Pismo. i just need to drill few holes on the very buttom to help drian the water.

next, i'm going to try the bumper first with .120 wall 1.5" square tubing, 'cause i have pretty good idea where to mount and most importantly, much easier to bend and joint.mcmater has the 6' long tubing for less than $40 a piece, 2 strips will take care of the bumper. i'm running with stock t-bars, 2" square tubing would be a bit heavy for them to carry, i think.

i'll buy sliders from Downey because it's cheaper than making one myself.
