3rd Gen internal cage

hello everyone i thought some of you would be interested in seeing my new cage. it ties to the frame in 6 places through the stock body mounts. my friend designed it to be both structrual as well as maintaining as many of the stock components as possible. all the seats still fold down, visors still function and all the dash components are still in tact! please let me know what you think!

Very nice work! Does it go through the dash in front? Can you post some more pics of the dash?

Now that is a nice cage. Fits in the dash and doesn't crimp leg room.

Very well done, and props to your friend, very clean and extremely well fabbed.

I am very very impressed.

Mr. Hart?

This is Adrian.

Looks great. Who did the install?

In dash triples the time, but you can actually use the truck for stuff more than wheeling

If you have to ask, you can't afford it and why in the hell would he add an exo cage now? :pat:

At 200+ hours of time into it from what Hman said...you can't afford to pay someone to do that...even at $5-10/hr. Most fab shops (including myself) base labor off $35-50/hr and that is for routine stuff. That probably doesn't count the countless hours he spent thinking things up, changing ideas, experimentation...priceless work. Hman has one good friend for doing something like that for him. I hope you bought him more than beer and pizza!

Very nice work indeed and ingenius using the existing body mount spots for tie ins to the frame.

:bigclap:

i think im aware of what i can and cant afford. it was a simple question that didnt need a response like that, either way, its a real nice cage...
and why wouldnt he add an exo cage? is that some bad voodoo or something? please explain.

geuss i need to start working on my welding and fabbing skills a bit then!

oh, and im not trying to be a smartass, it just comes naturally. im not trying to start anything either, but i joined this board to learn about my truck and modifying it, and if you cant respect that, well.... then your an ass

sorry, but thats the way i see it

please dont take this the wrong way, as you cant tell tones and such over the internet, but just had to say what was on my mind, be easy...

Kyle,

The reason for a cage (internal or external) is mainly to protect the occupants, since he has one on the inside, he will not be adding one to the outside. it adds up to a LOT of weight like that. The internal cage will protect the passengers, not the body. An exo will do both but is heavier.

I am not an expert by any means on this. Do a search for them on google. there is a lot of information (pros/cons) for both types of cages.
