Why is it that Old Man Emu, Downey HD, and FJZ80 coils come in two different lengths? I've read extensivly about all three but the only reason i've come across is because of added weight from the gas tank, so your "supposed to put the longer coil on that side". Even so, i've never thought that would make ANY differece considering the strength of a coil. Far as i believe, a few extra pounds of gasoline on one side is'nt going matter. Well after reading some very recent threads, that appears to be correct...one side is still higher than the other. So this rasies my question:

Some of you have bought equal sides/sizes (2 lefts or 2 rights) of FJZ80 coils but others (like myself) have bought OME or Downey and have two different sizes. I still have'nt installed my coils but before i do, i wanted to know if anyone has the fact(s) as to why there not the same size? Maybe i missed it somewhere..

I think it is because of the fule tank. With a 17 gallon full tank, thats about 102 pounds of fuel (give or take).Plus the Weight of the tank and skid plate. That dose make a difrance.

they are differnt sizes to make up for weight differences.... you must factor in gas, it isnt a matter of a couple pounds, but when you factor in there will be a driver and a full tank of gas, thats everal hundreds pounds of a load.....

The longer spring (marked with an A), always goes on the driver's side.

On my truck, I installed two of the long side FZJ80 coils. Now my right side (gas tank side) sits a tad higher. I was looking at the stock coils and it seems as if the stock 2nd gen coils are minutely different in length. So, for 2nd gen 4R's, the long coil would go on the driver side (unusual)... I noticed before I put my LC coils on, that the right sat a bit higher. It may have been the pavement I was sitting on, but... who knows... It's weird... heh heh
