35s?
just wondering how much more id have to do to be able to fit 35s. i am in need of new tires soon so it was just a thought that crossed my mind. ive got a 3" revtek suspension lift and the 4crawler 2". right now im running 305/70/16 w/ 16x8 streetlocks. i just feel the more i look around these 33s look smaller and smaller...and id love to go up to 35s

im runnin 35s on 17x10 wheels with SAWs and a 3in 4crawler body lift. they rub a lil bit on the fender flares but trimming took away most of the rub. im definitely glad that i went with the 35s.

from what ive seen online and in magazines, it looks like a lot of tires that i would wana put on dont have the 315/75/16 size. i think the only issue i would have is the a-arms, but it looks like thats not that hard of a job. hopefully i can find a tire i like in the 315/75/16 size...ive been looking at tsl's, destination m/t's, bfg m/t's, those types of tires...

i've been running 35s the past couple weeks, on 16x8s, ~2.5" suspension lift, 1.5" body lift. i kept them to the street because i definitely need to trim before i can wheel with 35s. just from street driving, the rub at about full turn, and the bottom inch or tw of the back of the wheel well there is pretty chewed up. you're a bit higher than me so that's better, but you still gotta trim trim trim.

You will also wanna think about doing something to lengthen the rear control arms so your tire doesn't go into the front of your rear fender. This could be costly though.

bamachem, Steve's tires rubbed all over before the SAS.......
calrockx, hope you enjoyed my tires......thanks for returning them, they go back on next week for the Big Bear run........
I have 1 1/2" RB body lift and had to cut out quite a bit around the wheel well, with the wider stance of the long travel kit there is no frame rubbing at full lock.....

the front end looks like mine, rockin the tjm and the lightforces.

i second that vote for 3rd gens, 4X4runnerGIrl's rig is awesome.... rocky still has a sweet 4th gen, don't forget to count her in....
i've got a 3" suspension and 2" bl. had to do a little trimming on the pinchweld up front like steve, but so far no issues up in the mountains.... (crossing my fingures)

I guess you have your answer here, but I will throw some more in - I went to 315's on 16x8 rims. I did the fender trimming and shaved upper A-arms, and I had to modify my ARB bull bar, too. They fit fine. Only rubbing that is left is on the frame at full turn (on the rear side of tire). Not really a problem for me. Not sure if the others above have the same rubbing. If it is a 3rd gen with 4.25" or so of backspace, not sure how you could get around it (modify steering stops?).

Bruce TS, that is one hell of a set up. Those 35's really set the Runner up. Nice work. I'm looking to 35's or 36's on my 4th as well. I hope they look half as good as yours.

Hey Bruce, how much trimming (and where) did you have to do at the firewall? You can check out some pictures of where we had to clearance our firewall and inner fenders here.

yea ive seen steve's writeup on the 35's. i understand ill be having to trim the fenders a little bit, but i think ill be able to put them on fine. i dont do much hardcore wheeling, im just looking at putting on new tires within the next few months, and i figure in addition to figuring what tire to put on, i might as well figure out what size i can put on. thanks for the help guys. (and girl-that is a sweet 4runner, youre the coolest girl EVER)

Almost the same amount as you had to do, except I didn't trim the front portion, it does rub there a bit, but only during hard landings with body flex....

that writeup really puts things in perspective on how much trimming needs to be done for 35s. i thought it was a snip here and there, but it's obviously much more. bruce told me it was pretty thorough, and those pics and write up sure to testify to that.

I'd really like to compare notes with a few other people who have clearanced their firewall to fit 35's and so far I haven't gotten any feedback from anyone that has downloaded our PDF templates and gone for it. Could you post some pictures of your setup?
