got 03' tundra, aftermarket intake Q?
hey guys, I just got an 03' tundra TRD, and I want to get some more MPG, and power I want to put on an after market intake such as a K&N or another brand, and a free flow muffler. I have a warranty for the next 3 years will changing these, void my warranty? I also wanted a push bar or grill guard for some impact protection without removing the stock bumper and Ideas u guys have would be great. thanks again.

YES!!... another Tundra on board.. Welcome.. voiding the warranty?.. only if there is a problem in which the aftermarket product is proven to be the source. have fun modding..... oh yeah.. first of all.. get a lift and new tires =) that will start you off really well!

My elcheapo ebay SS autochrome intake sounds good, helped the 0-60 acceleration and got me the 1 mpg I lost going to the heavier wheels and tires that I have. As far as grill gaurds, Westin, Manik, make some. I think Four Real Steel (Daystar?) has something. What I like is the look (bumper replaced) of the ARB Bull Bar. Enjoy the truck.

I've heard some good things about the SS Autochrome headers. Seem to give a noticable increase in power, better sound, etc. Someone somewhere did a nice writeup on the install, I have it bookmarked on one of my PC's.
I'm also curious about the intakes available for the Tundra. I know on the 3.4L 4Runners they don't help one bit (some lose power) however I'm curious to see how the Tundra V8 might benefit from one. Anybody used these, especially with say a better-flowing exhaust? I'm either gonna drop $45 on an AMSOIL filter, or $200 on a complete intake - whichever is gonna give me more juice. Being in Colorado, I need all the airflow I can get!

From what alot of tundra owners are saying. With a higher flow intake such as k&n type, you'll loose lowend up to about 4k then gain a few at 5k to the redline of 5.4k. Is 400-600rpms of room near redline worth it? I know I don't drive at 5krpm.

sounds like its worth the low price on intake, So Ill go ahead and throw it on. Muffler a little later but Ive noticed a good amount from a good exhaust.
