Question Wires, What Wires?????

I bought the 99 Limited 4Runner last fall. Clock didn't work so I said will look later. I have looked and there are no wires going to the clock. I have pulled the AC/Temp controls and Radio out but no wires. Is this normal for a 99 Limited??? Is the clock there just to fill a hole in the dash? It doesn't make sense to me.

Anyone got any idea???? Sure is a puzzler to me!!!

Bumpity

Has anyone else had this problem?

Since this 4Runner has the all digital controls and radio, could there be clock in the Radio?

It's not normal for the wire to not be there. Have you checked behind the instrument cluster or surrounding areas? The wires aren't all THAT long, so I dont think they could go far.

I agree with Gapguy, just look for a disconnected wire behind the bezel. Worst case all you need to do is run a fused +(pos) wire from a switched source (probe ignition switch wires) and you have a clock again.

My 97 4Runner has 4 wires.

I have taken the center part of the dash apart and can find no plugs or wires just laying around doing nothing. I removed the radio and heater/AC controller and still no wires.

It is strange though!!!!!

I beleive it is in the gromet with the Emergency Flasher wires. Follow that down and you should find the plug for the clock.

Sorry it's been a few month since I tore into the center of the dashboard.

Constant + (clock memory.......simple fused +)
Switched + (conrolls display illumination)
Ground (self explanitory.......ground wherever you can)
Dimmer (run to dimmer switch......just connect to dimmer)

You shouldn't need to do any of the above because I bet the proper connector is there and is just not plugged in.

Thanks for all the advice, but I still cannot find the wires. LOL

MTL, the pics look just like my 97. The 99 is just a little different.

I am still looking and hope to find a dangling wire connector!!!!!
