20%
It's 20% that the factory gives. The place I went to actually looked it up. Those are treated windows though, there isn't a film on them as with getting a tint job. Also, the % means percent visbility (i.e. 5% limo=5% visiblity, 50%=50% visibility, etc.). I had them match up what I had, so 20%. Again, because it is applied to the windows the hue from the sun might not look the same. All my windows look te same black, but the rear ones have a hardly noticable green hue and the fronts red. It's not noticable unless you stare at it in the sun for a minute though.

I got to disagree with White SR5. The % number means the amout of light that can pass through the tint. 5% tint means only 5% of light can pass through, that's why it is so damn dark. 50% is much lighter cause 50% of light can pass through.
When I was younger I had a lot of my cars with pitch black windows, getting harrased by the cops.

hey nice tint -- vato, did you get your windshield tinted, too?
also, what did it cost you for the two front doors? a shop here will charge me $100, I'm looking for a comparsion....
and how did they do it? did they have to remove the door panel or the sail panel? or did they just put that stuff on there with the windows up?
I have some speakers installed and don't want them messing around in there if I can avoid it....
and can you roll your windows down immediately after the tint is applied or do you have to let it cure or something for a day or 2 ?

No I didn't apply any tint on windshield, I was thinking of doing a little strip of 4-5inches at the top, but I forgot to tell them. It cost me about $105cdn which is about $72us, they applied the tint with just the windows up. You can't roll down the windows for the 3 days.

Hey cool a window tint thread, perfect timing. Ok so I'm planning on getting my front windows tinted on monday because it's almost summer and already getting pretty sunny n hot over here. I want to get the fronts either matching or one shade lighter than the rear privacy glass. I read that factory is 20% but people have been matching pretty well with 15%. Do you guys think 20 would match pretty well with the factory? I dont want it too dark because the cops here like to harass the students here but I dont want it too light either. Oh and um stupid question guys but they put the film on the inside of the glass right? Thanks. Oh and I forgot to add is about $100 or so the price that everyone got for having the front windows tinted and is there a brand of film that is better than others? Just want to make sure before I go and get quoted so i dont get ripped off or have some crappy film put on. Thanks again

I put 15% on the front 2 and had them put a layer of 15% over the factory tint on the tailgate just to darken up the cargo area. Looks good, cops don't mess with me for it.

Aggghhh!!!
Aggghhh! You paid $72?!?! I got mine done for $35 + tax! It was just the front two, right? 15% almost matches, but I still think 20% is right on it. That's what the tint place said it was for Toyotas. Yeah it's the light that gets through. I meant that when I said visibility. Light hitting your retina... It's a nice job though. I'd either like all the windows to be completely clear or all tinted.

Now for the big question... what sort of establisments will apply these darker tints for your strictly 'show' vehicle?
