just tore mine down yesterday, mine failed in the same cylinder as yours, also a 95. with just under 100k miles.
Im planning to have Ted http://www.engnbldr.com do machine work, valve job over sized stainless valves, and purchase h/g and bolts from him. also replace knock sensore
and pcv. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...951798777&rd=1 h/g and bolts from engnbldr on ebay. if your considering DOA heads you should also consider having engnbldr do some porting for you. I've read a lot of his posts on pirate4x4.com and he says he will port for your particular needs. instead of porting for maximum h/p above 3,00rpm's. good luck with the rebuild.

From a previous post: I just got off the phone with Toyota Canada. Thee ARE two campaigns 802 which applies to v6's from late 80's to early 1990 (1991 production year) AND 802 CS, which applies to mid 91's to mid 94's (early 1995 production year). I imagine these are called V06 and V06CS in the USA.
Campaign 802 (USA = V06)IS expired...8 years.
Campaign 802 CS (USA = V06CS) is still wide-open. Service Date is still "0", which means no time limit, at this point.
This info is current as of this date....I just got off the phone with the lovely lady at Toyota, who confirmed MY '91 is still elligible

Anyone know if a 22R would drop "easily" into the truck instead?
Might seem silly to go from a V6 to a 4-banger, but .. they don't seem to blow headgaskets as often

Dear Mr. Blair
Are you saying that it is open for multiple replacements or is it one and your done? When I called Toyota, they told me that mine had already been done under the campaign and was not eligible for another.
Thanks

Now, done,is done. And if you ask around here, once is not enough, as they will not replace the studs.

Felpro sells both the gaskets and the new bolts..
Your going to be down almost 300 bucks - I'd take those heads down to the machine shop and get them checked out / cleaned and decked. Then if there was even a hint of wear on the cylinder walls - I'd take the block down there and have in honed and re-ringed. Just my 2 cents worth.
If your short on money just throw on the head gaskets - re-use the bolts and hope for the best.

If he's a REALLY good friend he'll PUT it there (= Long Block) . And the BEACH is some ways south of 7, about 50 km south. I used to live south of Queen, and east of Lee.

After reading fireman's thread about DOA studs, I think I'll pass. Yikes! I just wanted to let you all know that I just ordered some OEM bolts from Conicelli toyota for $7.50 each. Not too shabby. My local stealer wants $12.80 each. I also got OEM head gaskets from Conicelli for about $70 dollars less than my stealer wanted for them. Now I wait.

???...sealer???
I've spent the last few days tearing her down (I don't qualify for the V06 campaign). What kind of head gaskets should I use this time around? Tim from DOA suggested I use felpro gaskets and spray them with copper gasket sealer.

>>>*Hi! Bummer on the gasket failure, but I just have to take issue with the idea of spraying a Felpro type gasket with any kind of sealer.
That is Perma-torque technology, that design gasket is impregnated. Any sealer would defeat the purpose of the gasket, in my poor opinion.
I quit supplying Fel-pro when Federal-Mogul bought that nice family owned company and we started seeing items we didn't recognize in their sets. I am sure they are still fine, though.
Nearly all aftermarket gasket makers are going to metal laminate style called slipper plate.
New head bolts are cheap, shop around a bit, under $40/set for new ones. If in the budget, studs are excellent.
The head surface should be lightly milled to assure perfection, this helps. Remember that almost all head gasket failures are caused by a difference in temperature, so going over every single tuning parameter can help to stop a repeat....*EB

Success! Boy, I am one happy SOB. After a huge delay for shipping, one major set back, and a few minor ones, she is runnin' perfectly. I ended up replacing all of my valve cover bolts and had to replace 3 of my intake manifold bolts with longer ones.
I added a sound blanket on the firewall which made a huge difference in the cab. I also added a flexalite black magic fan and wired it into an OEM fog light switch (very clean). I will finish up the ISR mod later this week.
