Toyota Axle q

I have a rear axle from an 87 2wd toyota and from what I understand, the only thing that is different between the 2wd and 4wd IFS rear axles is the perch location (2wd underneath/ 4wd above) and the E-Brake cables. Can anyone confirm this info or are there more differences that I haven't listed?

I am almost positive the e-brake cable is different cause i saw it in the chiltons the other day, but i dunno about the perch location. Check out chiltons and it'll tell you all.

Most of the 2wd axles are 27-spline w/7½" ring gears. 4WD are all 30-spline w/8" ring gears. You'd have to have a ¾-ton or 1-ton truck to get 8" diffs in '87.
