Searching for Black Pearl Set
I have a '96 SR5 and I am looking for a Black Pearl set for it. I seems that they have been discontinued at the factory. I am hoping that somebody will be able to lead me to a set. All ideas are welcome.

Toyota only sells the door emblem in black...go figure. What about the rest of the truck?! They're like $35 EACH anyway.

I bought all the stuff to do it actually, I just haven't bothered with it yet. Though I did paint the toyota emblem on top of my intake a nice red color, out of boredom. haha

I painted mine using Bob_SR5s write-up. It's been about 2 1/2 years and they are starting to flake. Figured I'd get the real thing this time so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

hey guys,
i thought i'd chime in and no offense taken regarding the writeup either
i had my front oval painted for about 18 months or so before i switched to the satoshi grill mod. yes, there were places where stones and stuff hit the oval and there was some chipping. but it was not looking bad or crappy.
one thing my writeup didn't include was the use of plastic etch primer. quite possibly that is what might be missing in terms of long term adhesion.
however remember guys, the front part of your vehicle will always take the most abuse. look at your valences or the leading edge of your hood. thus, chipping is to be expected.

guys,
be careful buying the black pearl emblems if they don't specifically say your year. or be weary of ebay actions that blanket cover all the years (96-02). if i recall from someone's thread awhile back, someone said that he bought a front emblem but it didnt fit in his grill.

Bob thanks for the advise. I admit I did not use any primer when I did my front oval. I may try this with the primer and see how it goes. Thanks again for the advice.

The only size difference is that the 99-02 Toyota logo in the grill is larger, all the other parts are the same size. The rear pieces are all stuck by adhesive and can be placed anywhere, except for the top logo (it has two prongs).
