Rear Hitch 1, Chevy Truck 0

Last week on our way out of town for vacation (of course), we were rear ended by a full size chevy truck towing two big generators. We were stopped at a red light, he probably hit us at about 20mph. I have a hitch with a receiver shackle installed, absorbed probably 90% of the impact. The only damage I took was from the top of his hood crushing the bottom side of the rear hatch. My rear bumper was not even scratched. Meanwhile his front bumper was a complete "V", bumper and grill shoved into the radiator, radiator shoved into the engine, DOA. All ended up fine, he was fully insured, I'm getting a new tailgate installed next week, no one was injured, just thought I'd share the carnage. Pics were taken with my cell phone so sorry they're so small.

That means that I'm ok at the rear. Can I install another hitch that can take that kind of punishment up front?

You may want to check your hitch before pulling anything.
