Rancho shock bushings
I just put on my Rancho 5000 RS5017's yesterday they didn't fit like I wanted them too. The problem is the lower bushing is way too small to fit on the toyota shock mount. I had to remove the bushing and use one of the stock bushings I ended having to cut part of it out to get it to fit inside the shock hoop. It still isn't quite right however my 4 runner rides much better with new shocks. Does anyone sell bushings that fit toyota the fit in smaller hoop shocks?
What do most of you do drill the stock bushing out to fit? If that is the case I am screwed I threw the bushings that were in it away.

Your Ranchos didn't come with their own bushings? They probably should have. I just put on some Rancho 9000 shocks and they came with their own polyurethane bushings. The Ranchos were not compatible with the rubber bushings from the stock Tokiko shocks. The Rancho busings were much smaller.

They had bushings in them I took them out because they were too small to fit the shock mount stud. The shocks are not the RS5187 shocks it calls for I am lifted in the rear at least 3.5" I needed something at least 4-5" longer than stock for travel. I may just order some poly bushings and drill them to fit the shock stud and intall them.

Hmm, well FWIW my Rancho bushings didn't exactly slide onto the stud. It took some elbow grease and a bit of effort. But they got on. Try a little grease and maybe use a C clamp or something to press it on. It should fit...

im having this same problems with my 5017's but the new bushings that were in the ranchos had some crazy little metal piece in it so i tried to take those out and for the life of me i couldn't! so i ended up drilling out the bushings and thought i could use the old ones from the year old shocks that i had on there, but those are too big to fit in the rancho loops. im getting really frustrated!

Rancho shocks have a variety of different bushings, depending upon the vehicle they were designed to fit. Just swing by the off road store and pick up a set of hourglass bushings, with the correct internal and external diameters and swap them out. Problems solved.
For example, Tacoma's have a 3/4" ID on the rear shock bushing, but the longer shocks commonly used are a Jeep replacement, so they have the smaller ID bushings for the rig Rancho made them for. Central 4Wheel Drive stocks the right size bushings, so when I swap shocks, I always grab bushings.
Take a look at some of the write ups for lift installs. Most of them mention this step.

That sounds about like the same ones the Tacoma takes. Just make sure they are the hourglass type. The Rancho's don't seem to stay centered on the flat type.
