At the very least some diagrams of the final setup would be nice so people could DIY it themselves. I know I would be interested in it for the right price.
Arduino Uno is the plan, and that's what the software was written for.

That I have done. I put a pontiac grand am (rental car) in reverse at 70mph, it just killed the engine and coasted.

Are the paddles going to be on the steering wheel or the column?
Because the wheel might be upside down when you need to shift..

Comes down to personal preference. Having driven both styles I like paddles on the wheel for everyday driving, paddles on the column for aggressive/race driving.

The paddles on the wheel turn with your hands, feels good and always right at your finger and are usually much smaller then the long column mounted paddles. The only time they are out of reach is when you cross hands at around 12 and 6 which in most cases you wouldn't be shifting.

The column paddles are great for when you are power sliding and the wheel is all over the place, you always know where the paddle is.

You can always go with the WRC style shifter too.

The funniest one I've seen was using the stock cruise control switch in the wheel of a 4runner. It worked, although up and down shift would be with the right hand. They called it a stealth install, I thought cheap/lazy install.

True, guess you could use just about any switch mounted anywhere.

Although being sick and wanting to lay on the couch I managed to install the right/upshift paddle today.

Removed the air bag and de-pinned the cruise control switch leaving just the horn wire and mounted the paddle where I wanted it.

Put some sticky back urethane pad over the switch and screwed the horn contact/airbag mount back on and plugged the horm back into the clock spring.

Reinstalled airbag, which is harder now with the paddle in the way.

Eventualy the paddle wires will be run through the clock spring where the cruise wires came out of. The cruise will be reinstalled somewhere else later.

Looks like the left side may pose more of a challenge. On the right side the plastic was pretty thick where the cruise switch was screwed in, on the left side it's really thin. Maybe this week I can get the left paddle in and wire both of them up.

Looking good although for some of us removing the cruise control is not an option. Without that I tend to speed lol.

Not removing cruise, simply relocating it (later). Maybe in the column or center console next to the ETC, open to suggestions if anyone has any. Personally I haven't used cruise or even overdrive in over a month, but not going to delete the cruise.

Using the pins in the clock spring for the paddles will be nice so I don't have to just shove wires through the column and have them get bound up when I turn the wheel, and if you wanted to put paddles on the column to save the stock cruise switch, you would need to relocate the turn signal and wiper switches which seems unacceptable.

Putting the cruise by the ECT button would be terrible for me. My dog is always turning that on and rolling down the rear window. Could be funny though.

If you could still keep the cruise on the wheel that would be cool. You could probably unwind the clockspring and adhere another ribbon of cables to it, that way it would wind and unwind with it and you wouldn't be messing with the air bags at all. You might be able to get a set of buttons like on my old maxima. They put them in front of where your paddles are.

Not sure if it would work but just a thought. Maybe some wireless transmitter for the controls too.

There is also all those empty spots left of the wheel over by where the clutch start cancel button would be, or the e-locker slot. I'm not going to attempt to leave it in the wheel, think it would just be in the way. I have used the cruise once, that was when I bought the truck just to see if it worked.

A few years ago a guy named BrettM started AW Shifting, he used PIC microcontrollers to do the same thing. Had a lot of issues with false shifts, I believe it related to RF interferance in the wiring, CB's would make the tans shift. Hope you say all theat he had done for reference. Also I used a Omron PLC to do a basic manual conversion once, it worked OK but I like the manual shift control of having a lever on the floor better. And yes I can start in any gear, stop in any gear and shift when I want. It stay in the gear I leave it in when I stop.

So did you convert the original floor shift to full manual control, or do you have 2 floor shifters?
$100 for this isn't bad. http://radesignsproducts.com/14Shiftcontrollers.aspx

I already have a floor shifter, I like driving with paddles. Comes down to personal preference I guess.
