Thanks
Rick Hawkins

QUOTE=JoKEpLaYeR]Ok: So here goes:

My new mod list includes:
Lift:
-1" Body lift from 4crawler.com - Done
-New A-Arm kit from Total Chaos
-Front bumper from Badland Bumpers - Very Soon (Next week?)
-Rear bumper from All-Pro
-RockSliderZ from 4crawler.com
-Running Big-O Big Foots 33x12.5x15 until I have money for some Dunlop Mud Rovers
-7"x15" Rims that came with truck
-Sway bar disconnects
-I think I have a York compressor lined up to use for on-board air
-I'm going to add a second gas tank where the spare was

I don't know how much I need a rear locker yet - will decided in the future.
Same for SAS, I think i can get all the wheel travel I need out of the total chaos kit.

Thanks!

I had the machine shop find all parts (except the TRD Stage 1 Cam) for me. Check out www.engnbldr.com, it seems to be a favorite on the board.

Good luck!

Aight, the tranny is back in! Thanks to Sbrut95 for stopping by and helping out! Still a few things to bolt to the motor!

It's totally coming together! I spent $32 on injector o-rings the other day. Why does an injector need three o-rings?!?!?!

Later,
Steve

Broke the engine in on Saturday, changed fluids on Sunday, tried to get timing just right on Sunday, but it won't idle. I realized today that the o2 sensor was just sitting in its hole..... it wasn't bolted down. I'll work with it more tonight and tomorrow.

The 3-Core GDI is in with a 180 Thermostat and a 2-Speed Taurus Fan!!! Running cool!

I ordered 2 more 30" Geolanders to match the tires on the rear. I also ordered a stock front bumper to run with for now. I kinda agreed to go on a trip to Shasta in 2 weeks and need to have it all together by then!!!!

It drives great! I put a stock front bumper on with my own brackets and 2 "Offroad Lights" from Harbor Freight... I think I paid $13 for the pair. Pictures here.

TPS sensor...dead.

According to Roger's site (http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml) my TPS is dead. the 1st position I can set to the proper resistance, second position shows 0 or infinite. 3rd position shows the same. 4th shows 4k to 5k at WOT. It didn't pass smog today and when I bridged the computer it showed an error code which I think means TPS.

I'm going to replace it and the o2 sensor just to play it safe. I've got a brand new cat in there. Wish me luck.

Oh, and yesterday it got a new starter and a red top optima. Starter was clicking, hammer didn't get the solonoid to unstick.... replaced with one from AutoZone with a LLT warrenty.

I set the new tps last night, set my timing to 5 BTDC and set idle to 750-800 but now i've got a miss/hesitation i need to figure out. Also, when you gas it and let off, it idles rough for a second and then smooths out.... I think the computers learning curve needs to catch up. I reset the ECU when I put the new TPS on.

Any follow up on your runner??? I have an 87 that is the same color and in very good shape externally. I have over 300k on the motor. The head was rebuilt about 1k miles before I bought it, but I want to rebuild the bottom half and maybe spice up my engine a little bit. I got a master rebuild kit from engnbldr on the way that includes a new cam and timing cover along with the whole kit. I just have to get the engine out and see what machine work I'll need.

The 4Runner has been running great. I've taken it to the offroad park at Hollister a few times now and I also just spent 5 days in Death Valley with over 200 miles offroad! Fun trip. It's been running like a champ. It also did great in the snow yesterday - I unstuck a Ford Ranger with all 4 of my wheels in the snow with no chains on my truck.

That's awesome that the motor is still running @ 300k. I hope the motor I built will run that long. I rented an engine hoist when I put my motor in. Good luck on the rebuild!

I bought a universal online and it bolted up great.

I've been having a blast with this truck thus far. I'm saving up for ball joint spacers and new tires right now.

Well, up until the head gasket mysteriously blew..... the 4Runner was running fine. I was cruising home from Tahoe and all of the sudden the motor got really loud and I lost all power. I glance down at my gauges and my temp was still way low (3 Core Rad, 180 thermostat, and a 2-Speed Taurus Fan help keep it really cold.) So I get it towed home and pull the plugs, crank it and my garage got a coolant shower. The roof, the wall, and all over the floor. I call my machine shop and tell them. It's still under warrenty and this time they are going to put on a real Toyota headgasket.... the last one was a fel-pro and for some reason it didn't even last 8,000 miles. Makes me wonder if they didn't torque the head down tight or if they didn't work from the middle out while tightening it down. Something was done wrong. They are paying to have a shop do the work.

It's back - but the valves are clicking louder than they did before. I'm gonna have them do the adjustment.

Also... The back window doesn't work anymore, my skidplate was missing, and one of my tires had a bubble in it.

My wish list for my truck....
1) 1.5" BJ Spacers
2) 2" Lift Springs
3) Rear Aussie Locker
4) 4.7 T-Case gears
5) New T-Case/Tranny Crossmember
6) Badlands Front Bumper with Warn Winch
7) All-Pro Rear Bumper
8) 33's - Maybe Geolanders Again. I really liked the 30" A/T+II's I had until they bubbled.
