My first 4Runner MOD!!!! NAVIGATION

Well once I saw it I knew I had to get one... I love it, and the install was easy and it looks soooooo nice.

Disclaimer: Disregard the small little spice package in the picture with a bow, my girlfriend put that there, and I didn't have the heart to dispose of it yet. She put one in my M3 when I got it too, and looked for it every time I picked her up.

Bought from http://www.oemvalue.com/.

Thanks to nahau from www.t4r.org.

Install doc. http://www.geocities.com/cnahau/navinstall.html

Here's the thread that first turned me on to the NAV units...

Besides from the OEM nav unit for the 4runner, did you look at any other ones?

Unfortunately this unit will not play DVD movies directly like my 2003 LandCruiser would. But there is a plug on the back for the 6 disc Toyota DVD changer, which I would like to try to get.

The nice thing about this unit is that it is one piece. My LC NAV had the Head unit w/ screen, the DVD ECU under the passenger seat, and the DVD changer in the center console. Quite a complex system that would not easily be installed. The 2005 Camry NAV is plug and play into ANY 1990-2005 Toyota!!!!!

Yes I did. But I don't like the looks of them, and they would have covered the Climate Controls. This until looks like it came with the car from the factory! I like OEM, I like stock and this was the closest things. I am not saying that an OEM NAV is more functional than the Eclipse or Alpine for example, but it sure does look nicer installed. Plus dollar for dollar this one is cheaper than those other brands I listed.

where did u get that climate control on top of the head unit ? is that stock on a limited or somethin ? i have a 99 4runner, highlander edition and it dosent have that climate control.

also, when u have the car in park and u open the dvd screen to pop in discs, does the handle of the shifter get into the way ? or is there enuf space for it to open fully ?

Limited's have Climate Controls. When the car is in park the screen opens fully. I would not have done the mod if that was the case. But it's perfect!

Lee-

The installation is a breeze. Could be done really quick. The hardest part is the modification of the radio opening.

1. Remove guages and a dash around radio.
2. connect speed and reverse wire behind guages.
3. Put guages back in.
4. connect and mount NAV.
5. trim front panel.

That's it.

Don't you love the GPS functionality? I have the non-oem version of this unit (both are made by Fujitsu Ten/Eclipse). Absolutely love mine but wish I had the option to record service/maintenance info like with yours. Hmmm your pics make me want to swap in the limited AC controls now . Here's mine:

both installs look awesome.. i wouldnt put that into my truck jsut because my truck has no anti theft device and that system alone rivals the worth of my truck.... my truck is worth it to me, but blue book on my truck is pretty low... its an old truck....
