I've been to several different places and have not had much luck with the places I've been. I've heard a lot of people talk about Auburndale Automotive Shop on Southside Drive. They do major engine work and am assuming they work on other stuff. I've heard several different people talk about them. Not ever had work done there tho.

As far as dealerships I would stick with Toyota of Louisville on Dixie Hwy. Yes, it's still the Stealership, but between them and Oxmoor Toyota I'd take it to Toyota of Louisville. Sorry I couldn't be of much help!!

glassfishy and phoenix808, I've been around here for a minute or two and have gotten to know the area's shops through mutual acquaintances and friendships and the ever present "word of mouth."

The best referral for "shop/mechanic" that I can pass onto you is: TACHYON PERFORMANCE, LLC, 725 LOGAN ST. (right off of the eastern end of Broadway), 584-6969; which is owned and run by Chris Wallace.

The guy is a hardcore, ingenious wrenchhead/fabtech extraordinaire who's "been there, done that" a time or two and did it better!! And he's got himself a crack team of guys that he would'nt have there if he, himself, had'nt decided that they were up to par.

Admittedly, of all of the wrenches that I know or have known, he is the one and only one that I would trust to do whatever on my ride if I could not do it myself as he's driven, it almost seems, to do it right the first time.

They're not just fair, but honest, and won't screw you around with a bunch of marked up profit margin and/or overhead (as most shops do) or needless maintenance expenses... they tell it like it is and let you decide where you want to go with it. Between him, Kelly or Tony, you can't go wrong as they've the quickness of diagnosis and repairing that can only come with experience from having worked on and do work on just about everything from Acura to Volvo.

So try giving them a call (you'll be looking for "Chas" who handles all of the service writeups/pricing) and expect prompt wrenching services and speedy turn arounds with knowledgable, quick and straightforward answers to your questions with no BS involved.

p.s. Tell 'em that "Franc" sent ya, as I'm proud of what association that I have with them. Hell, you could even ask around about them as they are well known in the automotive-tuning-wrenching circles.
