Has anybody replaced their stock hood latch with one (or two) hydrolics? I have seen this on many cars and wondered if anybody has done it for their 4Runner. If you have, did you do it yourself or buy a kit from somebody?

I think Rancho makes a universal kit.

I contacted Rancho yesterday b/c I'm interested in the same thing...they told me that they discontinued their hood lifter kit a few years ago.

Damn. I bet somebody could do a custom job on it without too much effort. Just not myself!

Jason Burtman was working on this a while back. I think he put it on hold.
If your real interested give him a buzz.

Yeah...I should have also mentioned that I tried Jason B. the other day as well...he said that it was on hold due to lack of sturdy mounting points on the hood.
