About 30-40 times since i bought the truck at the beginning of last summer. Gone camping in the sand and now in the snow up here in Montreal.

2-3 snows in which I had it in and out of 4wd so far this winter. Only when the roads get too slippery from the white stuff. I usually leave it in 2wd until the wheels start to sliping, then throw into 4wd. I think slipping reminds one not to drive like an a$s. It's a good way to keep oneself off of trees, telepoles and the like.

I think I've engaged 4-Lo once or twice this season. Never for snow or ice, but for traffic. When I get stuck in serious stop-and-go traffic, I'll put it in 4-Lo so I won't have to slip my clutch as much. With the manual transmission, I don't have to stop to move out of 4-Lo and into 4-Hi or 2-Hi.

The way it's been snowing here the question should be when hasn't it been in 4 wheel. Just kinding, but more then I can count.

Every day, now we have some snow and ice, and a town to cheap to plow the whole street.

Easier question to answer would be how many times this season it has come OUT of 4WD. That would be a small handful. As far as IN, it's in about 23.5/7 due to snow/ice. I get about 250 miles/tank and it's all city stop-n-go... or is that slide-n-spin? Nasty, slimy roads in Alaska this winter... too warm... sure wish it would just get cold and stay that way.

Summer/fall sees lots of 4Htime too, offroading and hunting... very rarely do I need to drop it into 4L though... not even crossing a beaver pond last fall w/ water over the hood... now THAT was fun!

um, the last time i remember it not being in 4 wheel drive is........november? 4 wheeling, and snow and ice. my hubs have been locked for the last week, but we usually take the trucks out after work and climb on some rock buildup at work. some small boulder fields before the boulders get loaded and taken to the rock crusher at the cement plant.

Let me tell you all about my night! I am renovating a 140 year old farm house.. I bought all of the insulation last week with my 16' trailer only I bought all 16" wide R30 and R13. Well I had to return a bunch last night to Lowes because 2 large rooms need 24" wide.. Anyway I stacked all this crap on my truck and strapped it down. I made it to Lowes and got the stuff I need; only now its 24" wide and takes up that much more space! I had my bed stacked about 3' above the cab, FULL and strapped down tight. Well it was raining pretty hard and I wasn’t paying attention, when I started to back down into my front yard to unload it on the front porch I ended up going down over a large embankment! I just had a new septic system installed so it is a freaking mud hole, that and the rain didn’t help! I locked my hubs in and started to pull up out, only I was really close to a tree so I thought well Ill back up and loop around, when WHAM, I thought WTF did I hit!--- My 16' trailer that a friend used yesterday and dropped off on that side of the house of course!, I didn’t see it because all I could see was the freaking tree on one side and insulation out the back and the other side! I didn’t have fun because when I jumped out to see what I had hit I slid on the mud and landed on my a$$! So now my trailer is missing a light, my bed has another scrape / dent and I had to use my jacket as a seat cover since my a$$ was covered in fresh mud! I must say that the Revos were the only thing that made me happy yesterday, well till I got back out on the road and they started to clean themselves out!~ Oh how I HATE Bob Villa and his This Old House crap..and if I ever get a chance I am going to hit him, hard. That’s my 4 wheel drive fun of the week, and it hasn’t even snowed here yet!

thanks for the tip. we had some snow yesterday but i didn't have to use 4wd since it wasn't sticking.

Isn't it a sad day when the only times we can mention recently using 4wd are while stuck in traffic!!!

It is also a good idea to run your A/C about 10 minutes each month to lubricate the rubber gaskets, also per the owners manual. -S

This is very good advice...
When I worked as a mechanic I couldn't tell you the number of times people would come in with their AC not working and say "gee, I don't know why it just stopped working".....then I would ask "when was the last time you used it" and they often replied "ummm....I think it was during that hot spell 5 summers ago". Then I would reply "hmmm, you don't say.....I am very surprised" but it is all you can do to keep from laughing at that point.

If you have your truck on defrost, that also works the AC.
