How do you reach the front driveshaft bolts closest to the transfer case??
Anyone have a clue how to reach the front driveshaft bolts that are closest to the transfer case without first removing the tranny crossmember?? I removed the dust cover around that back U-joint, but just still can't get a wrench on either side that leaves you any room to turn the nut/bolt. The tranny crossmember is directly under the bolts, so the handle of your wrench has nowhere to go. Also can't use a socket wrench with wobble extensions, U-joints, etc because of the fat part of the driveshaft right in front of the bolts. On the nut side, the transfer case is right there, and thus again, you can't fit a ratchet, extension, wobble bar, etc.
Do I just have to put a jack under the tranny to support it and remove the crossmember first? No shop manuals that I own say to do it that way, but I can if necessary.
Help greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys!

On the 1st gens you can get it with a stub wrench if i remember correctly. I think you brace the stub wrench and crack it with another wrench... its been a while since I've done it, I'd have to crawl under there and look to be sure. Lemme know if you need me to!
