How do I know if my timing belt has been changed?
Hello all, I just bought my 95 tacoma with around 100k miles on it. Is there a way I can check to see if it's been done. I am not overly mechanically inclined so keep it simple if possible. I do know the head gaskets where changed with the recall as the dealership had it on record. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

At what mileage was the HG recall done? 9 times out of 10 the dealer will push the customer to do the Timing Belt if it is near or above 60K because the labor is basically free at that time.

Since your dealer has the HG recall on record, they'll have the dealer code of the servicing dealer on file, too. Cross-reference the dealer code to their location and phone #, if you don't have it already. They can look it up for you by contacting their regional distributor. Call that dealer and ask for a copy of the HG repair order to be faxed to you. They may ask for proof of ownership like a registration faxed to them first.
Check the RO for the timing belt P/N and labor code. Like <96 Runner> said, it was likely done then. Either way, it'll be good to have the recall RO in hand.
