Guys with Yakima fairing?
What size fairing fits the 4runner best 44" ?

To hijack, er, add to his question....
Has anyone with a fairing on for long time had trouble with it rubbing the paint off the roof??

We had problem on the Volkswagon - it rubbed a line down to primer but it was a Saris rack and fairing, it did have the rubber...I didn't want to put a fairing on my truck if that was a common issue.
Ok, Thanks! and I'll shut up now.

Yakima has been shipping fairings with four clear vynal stickers that you should be placing on the paint where the rubber pads will touch. I've never had issues with the fairing rubbing through my paint and I've never needed the vynal stickers, but then my truck is always clean. Dirt is the major problem, if you have any dust or grit under those rubber pads they'll act like sandpaper.

I have had mine on for years. No issues with wearing through the paint. Also, I cut mine down a little because I did not like the big sail up on my roof. I think these things are ugly but necessary for wind noise.
Also, I turned it around to hide the big YAKIMA. I hate being a advertisement.
Functionally, the piece is fine.

I have not had any problems with mine. I have the same setup as Garrett but with longer bars (I think 60"). If assembled correctly it will not rub the paint at all. The feet of the fairing have soft rubber pads and clear stickers attach to the roof where the feet touch. Only the pad and sticker physically touch. I love mine with the longer bars, I don't know what you plan on doing but I have had 5 kayaks on their side and paddles on top, 1 canoe and 4 kayaks plus paddles, and 2 kayaks/2 bikes with no problem at all. I even got 18 mpg @75 with 5 guys in gear in the Toyota and the boats on the roof. What a great vehicle.

Don't mess around with mighty mounts. Do their aftermarket rack either with the Q-towers, or control towers and be done with it. They are much stronger and allow more options than having to mess around with mighty mounts for each accessory you want to use.
