Guages only work when truck is warm?
Ive started noticing that as it is getting colder in the mornings, when i fire up my truck the tach shoots to about 1200 and sticks, even if i rev it. If i rev it high it will jerk up to around 3000 and stay there even when i idle. after about 5 minutes of driving the tach starts reading smooth like normal. Also the temp guage will not move from the bottom unless i smack the guage cluster a few times, then it starts to read the right temp. The speedometer needle wobbles too, but i think thats just the cable?
The previous owner had some color changing faceplate crap installed and i think he tore into the gauge cluster to do it... where should i start to fix this?
any suggestions work!

Is the aftermarket gauge overlay stuff still in place?
Those gauge overlay plates can cause binding on your gauge needles. Having to adjust the needles for clearance is a common move when installing those plates ...
