I bet a snorkel would have more powerr gains and lok better than that.
The amount of air pressure that is built up in front of a vehicle is really not much over atmospheric (unlike a supercharger which will build noticeable pressure) so the only way you will take advantage of that tiny amount of pressure is to increase airflow. Sadly this is where his design falls terribly short (but does seem to look cool) and that is the number of bends in the pipe, the fact that it is ribbed, the length of the pipe and the overall diameter. The design falls short on basic fluid dynamics principles.

Ontos, word on the street is there are bigger straws out there ... lol
and that hood scoop mod is pointless, if you really want the ram air effect take out that headlight and run like that.

Pull off the SC...slap on 6 dueces with venturi stacks, cut out the hood scoop, extend the front end 4 feet with rails and paint a family picture of the Munsters on the sides

Dude,

I can see what every one else can, the gians from your snorkle mod are clear and the pics are great. What we need now is for you to provide the parts list and source, plus a tech write up on how to. Is this some thing that I could do in the drive or should I consider taking it to a pro shop and have them do it for me.

If you look at the pic, he has a bug deflector on the front, wouldnt that just defeat the purpose of a ram air effect?? not that it would work any other way

On the other hand, I think he'd get similar results with the deckplate mod. Not only that, there'd be no water getting into the air intake, the deckplate mod is reversable, the air isn't heated before it gets into the intake, he probably would have spent less money, AND IT LOOKS BETTER!

The question begs to be asked......Do McDonalds straws flow better than the Sonic straws?

We need some work in a windtunnel here.

Props to Ontos, I have'nt had almost as good a laugh since I saw the bit about the "LOG" subwoofer setup.

Now on that one I did piss myself.

Seriously though, there is not now, nor has there ever been any such thing as a "ram air intake", irregardless of what manufacturers or street modders may have called such a setup..., it's simply mechanically impossible.

You see, an engine is designed and machined to take in only so much air for it to function with the only real way of increasing air flow being either by remachining the internals, (e.g., porting, polishing, camming, valving, etc.) or installing a super charger or turbo which actually do not increase air flow, but rather air compression so that more cubits of air are squeezed into the same amount of space.

It sounds good or cool and even almost feasible, but it's simply not possible with the only real attributes being the potential intake of cooler air minus the heat of the engine compartment.
