fuel filter
I tried to replace my fuel filter the other day on my 2000 4runner. I had a bucket under the filter. I was suprised by how much fuel sprayed from the fuel line when I started to disconnect the fuel filter. I ended up resecuring the fuel line and quiting. Would the fuel flow have slowed if I continued the replacement?

its normal for th gas to spray out like that, but it slowed to a drip after a couple of seconds when I replaced it on my 2000 Runner. it seems like a lot but 1/2 pint seems normal.
the hard part is trying to tighten the NEW fuel filter, took me like six times to finally get the thing on without any leaks

When I replaced the fuel filter on my 99, I cracked the front line loose just until it started to drip. I put a bucket under it and left it that way for a while. When I came back to it most of the pressure had dissipated and I didn't have any spraying of gas when I removed it the rest of the way.

Thanks - I tried again with more confidence that the gas pressure would decrease. The spray eventually became a drip, and I switched out the filter. It wasn't too hard. Glad I wore eye protection.
