Front diff questions.

Alright so yesterday I finally got the opportunity to diagnose the carnage that has become of my front end. I pulled the drain plug out and chunks of gear fell into the drain pan. Great. I used my bore scope to look inside and it looks like the pinion and carrier gear are all in tact. From what I can tell it looks like it’s a combination of carnage from the four spider gears in the main carrier. So here is my question….Would it be wise to just search for these four gears or should I search for the entire front differential? I’m worried about gearing differences and perhaps more damage that I cannot see when I get the diff down.

Gearing aside, it looks pretty general taking the front diff down. Any suggestions or tricks on making my life easier? Any knowledge on this will be beneficial to me. The vehicle is a 2000 Limited.

How long did you drive on it with it busted?

If it was any amount of time, your bearings are probably toasted.

For about a week now. I have not used 4wheel drive since. Bearings are pretty easy to come by though so that's not a major concern at all. Anything else I should be weary of?
