fixing cruise control 93-4runner
Is there any way to weaken the cruise control. I get to a hill, and instead of easing onto the gas the truck just puts it immediately to the floor it then continues to upshift and rev up to about 4500 rpms. It very annoying. Anyway is there a way to make it push the pedal down slower.
Thanks,
Drew

Make that 4. I thought that the mods I did would help but no. I dont think it is all the weak engine, but rather the computer that controls this to a great degree. its like the computer makes the tranny go into 3rd gear non lockup (I guess) when just unlocking the tranny would do. Ive noted this also though, that when I test drove a 2000 4 runner 2x2 with 235 stock tires and the automatic and 3.4L, I had no such issues with the cruise. In fact, Instead of running 2700 rpm as I usally do for the speed I go (around 70), the engine only ran about 2000. Also, close to my home there is an incline that always makes my 3.0 downshift while on cruise. The 2000 4 runner stayed at 2000 rpm and did not downshift. Very plesant drive.
