fitting a 255/85/r16

Anyone running this size tire on a 3rd gen runnner? I found one member and pm'd them but havent gotten a response and I met a local tacoma owner that had them but I cant remember what lift he had (if any).

Its an odd sized tire, basically a narrow ~33". Anyways, if you are running this tire please let me know what kind of lift you have in the front.

I JUST put the BFG M/Ts, mounted on OEM Limited wheels, in this size on yesterday. I have the complete OEM Tundra/LandCruiser suspension setup from Sonoran Steel. They rubbed pretty bad in the front, but if you look here, you'll find ways to eliminate some of the trouble spots.

No problems in the rear, though. Great tire and size, and I'm very happy I chose these over more ridiculous section widths...

Thanks for the info and the link. I pretty much have the same lift as that taco (1.5 front, 2 rear)

Did they just rub the fender wells or did you see frame/A-arm rubbing? Im not to concerned with fender wells since I'm building a front bumper to match my rear one.

The bumpers aren't the issue. They only rub badly on the rear of the front fenderwells, and ever so slightly on the top bolt of the rear mudflap.

They don't get anywhere near the A-arms, and I've yet to experience any rubbing on the frame.

I plan on adding some spacers to my front coilpack, which should alleviate any fand all serious contact issues.

I'll take some detailed pics this weekend if you want to see how they fit.

I just went out wheeling tonight and gave these tires a good test on some VERY rocky and undulating trails. I also came across a fairly narrow V-shaped concrete drainage ditch that I was able to completely flex out the front and rear. Very little rubbing, and it's not nearly as bad as it was now that I've beat on the front pinch welds and cut out some of the fender liner.

I can't see any disadvantage to this tire size when compared to 285's and 315's, only the advantages. Less rolling resistance, equal offroad traction, works well with stock power, D load rating construction, minimal modifications needed to fit (i.e. OEM wheels work) and better performance in nasty mud. The Expeditions West article sold me on these and I'll never use a different size on my truck.
