Ok...before you get too paniced. When you disconnected your battery, you automatically reset your ECU. Just drive around for about 30 mins or so and it will be alright. I have done this numerous times with all of the aftermarket add-ons I have installed. It's not a big deal. The idle will smooth out. The ECU is just re-learning all of your sensors...

Looks like it is idling at around 600rpms to me...

It does sound a little bit like a diesel in that video but I would say there is nothing wrong...

Alright I just went to go park it inside my garage and it was idling under 500RPMS . I know that's not the correct idle speed, and when I'm completely at a stop the engine seems like it wants to turn off. (due to the low idle)

Another thing I noticed is when I give the engine throttle, the dash gauge lights get brighter, then when no throttle is applied they appear to be dim. Could this be a symptom of the battery going bad?

Check all three belts tension.
Disconnect battery again and clean all terminals and tighten everything...again.

As long as you arent getting any check engine lights, your plugs are nothing to worry about. If your plugs were foul, you'd be getting a misfire or something similar. Check all connections anyway.

X2 on remove, clean & tighten the battery cables. Remove the negative first & connect the negative last. Sounds like you have a bad ground. In the future, don't worry about the cracked signal lens, it probably won't cause a problem if it gets wet, but I would seal it or replace it. If you need to disconnect the battery for safety reasons, usually just disconnecting the negative will do.

Today I went down to auto zone with the truck's battery. It was low in charge, so they said to let it charge for an hour. In the meantime I go back to the truck and check for any loose grounds. I couldn't seem to pinpoint any, all connections appear solid. I will also further test with a voltmeter later today.

I also cleaned and tightened terminal wires as mention. The belt tensions seem normal, there is no play with them at all.

I start the truck, it cranks over the first time. The idle is fine when cold starting, but after it warms up it drops very low when in parking gear. It's about right over the 500rpm mark. I engage the drive gear and it further lowers the idle to about 300rpm. Now at 300rpm it feels like the engine wants to shutoff and it seems like its running improperly and can possible damage it by running with such a low idle of 300rpms.

I don't feel to confident in risking running the engine with such a low idle until the ECU "self adjusts" or "relearns it's sensors"

I'm stumped on what to do, and need to use this truck for work. . .

Okay I went and tried to start it up again. NO LUCK!!!
I think It may be a ground that I'm overlooking.
So I'm uploading another video of it trying to start. I tried 3 times!

Oh and also, does anyone know where that little black washer that i'am holding goes to??
I think it goes onto one of the bolts that keeps the battery still in it's compartments.

EDIT: I succeeded in starting it again. I had to give it a little bit of gas though! It still idling under 500rpms, then when I go to put into reverse or drive it drops even lower in rpms and it feel like the engine wants to shut off. This is really starting to annoy me!

Air box sensors and filter.
Coil pack sensors, check em out if they're fully dried.

Is there anything else I should be on the lookout for?
Anything that possibly could have gotten loose/wet that could cause a overall low idle?

Have you checked every fuse just in case?
Vacuum leak somewhere?
Hows your MAF?

Idle looks fine to me its right where it should be once it warmed up. Looking at your temp gauge the engine looked to be cold but it didn't really sound like a cold start once you started it. *watched the 1st vid*

Yeah,looking at his first video, I didn't see anything wrong. But, his later posts indicate that something is seriously wrong.


Just like SoCalPaul, I am also going to suggest cleaning the IAC. It's amazing how much that little valve can affect the idle. It could be a total coincidence that it started getting worse when you washed your truck. I've heard of weirder things.

I cleaned the AIC with carb cleaner and all my problems went away. I'm going to fully disassemble the throttle body so I can thoroughly clean the AIC.

Hell yeah! Glad you got it fixed.

There are some great instructions on cleaning out the IAC on the bench. I would personally only clean the spring side (IE don't unscrew the two screw covered in sealant, that's probably more trouble than it is worth). You may or may not need to replace the gasket, it only costs 5 bucks from the dealer so you might as well do it.
