Did 3rd Gen SR5 have factory leather

Do 3rd Gens SR5 have factory leather, I never saw an early 3rd Gen (96-99) with leather but I've seen (00-02) with leather and their fully loaded SR5 with a moonroof and the wide fender flares, they pretty much have everything except the Limited badge.

I know leather can be port installed or done by a dealer aftermarket but I've always wondered if it's factory cause I've seen SR5's with leather that look no different than the Limiteds.

Not to mention SR5's account for alot of the 4Runners on the road probably like 8 out of 10.

Yes the older 3rd Gen SR5 could equipped with leather. The new one's that are SR5's that look like Limiteds might be the Sport Edition. Those came with the oversized flares, hoodscoop, and painted bumpers. Check outJalaber's website he has a great deal of info on there about the 4Runner

Every 4Runner 96-2002 had leather as an option. Some 2.7s have factory leather.

All models don't come with factory leather, I highly doubt Toyota was selling 27,000 dollar 4Runner with 2WD a 4 banger and leather.

I have been looking at 4Runners since the 96 model year and SR5's then did not have factory leather, I was looking to get one and they did not excist with leather, I only ever saw factory leather in SR5's in the 2000 model year cause I was gonna buy one, cause they where basically loaded SR5's with factory leather as an option.

I know it can be installed by the dealer but in my area the NY/NJ metro area the vehicles tend to be factory equipped with little to no port installed options, they excist but the dealers get factory optioned vehicles.

I only asked cause my neighbor has a 2001 SR5 with leather and I've seen many other SR5's with leather that are fully loaded so why would you buy a Limited for 39k when the SR5's fully loaded are 31-33k with what seems the same options

Maybe it was dealer installed. My 2000 2wd 4cyl was only 21,900 plus the 100k warranty. Total about 24,5k

I think it's just that you haven't actually seen one. I have been shopping down here and seen several 4cyl 96 & 97s with factory leather. I know the owner didn't get it installed at the dealership because I talked to them about it. One of them even had woodgrain, but it looked like a kit to me.

Oh, I didn't see this. Sorry, but this isn't true. The previous owner of my 4Runner had leather added as a factory option. It took 1 month and $985 extra to get it back in 96. I have the invoice.

It depends on the region that services your Toyota dealership. Here in the SE, it is SE Toyota, and yes, they offered leather as a port installed option for Runner's (SR5, Sport) not receiving factory leather. The Toyota region that services Maryland said they do not offer leather as a port option and it was only available on the Limited as a factory option. That is what my '02 Sport dealer in Maryland told me, but my dealer in NC could provide leather? Sometimes, I think Toyota is just running around with their heads cut off, just keep building a reliable vehicle and I don't care what marketing game they play. :pat:

My 96 SR5 is fully loaded, moonroof, V6, tow package, CC, chrome wheel moldings and Leather. I don't actually know if it was port installed leather or not. I do know that the running boards I have are the port insatlled variety. If it helps, it was origionally purchased in NC.

My '96 has factory leather. It was part of the "Limited" package, or also available as a separate option on an SR5.

Yes...the SE region is the only region that offered leather on the Sport editions. What reason that was for is anyones guess.

From what I've also been told, SR5's do not come with leather from the factory. It's installed later at the port or dealer after the car comes in. Some dealer do this before the truck even reaches the lot and add it into the sticker using toyota hides. Not sure it this is 100% true, but I've heard it more than enough.

I have an 02 SR5 that has factory heated leather seats... It was part of the package that added the fender flares, 16" wheels, and a couple of other things...

I believe there is a point of clarification that needs to be made. This is my understanding of what actually happens per a conversation I had with a Toyota parts dude.

The leather, fender flares and 16" wheels etc are NOT factory installed options.

They are DEALER options installed in port, not at the factory.

Dealer options are NOT the same as factory options.

I hope this clarifies some things.

Hi all,

My father just sold his '96 SR5 last year. It was a full option SR5 with moonroof, V6, running boards, chrome wheel trim, CD and Leather.
