The exhaust sounds a little louder then normal, might be due to the misfires and whatever else is going on. Confused on why I am getting P0300 is all that is misfiring is 302.

As for the timing belt, not sure. I am the 3rd owner. The 2nd owner put a new Jasper engine in it. Guess I have to add that to the list of possibilities.

Bob--did you check the plug wire routing?? While you are in there check these things out
1. IAC Hose to the rear of the manifold (Lowest manifold)
2. Check for a broken Valve Spring or leaky valve either via leak down tester or rotating the engine and checking to see that it is compressing when it should and flowing when it should
3. Can you give us more detail into when this started--read the thread but no details

4. Skipped Belt??--When was the last time the Timing belt was replaced? I think i am putting my money here!!!!

Hross, Yea, I unplugged and re-ran all the wires. As for when this started...can't pinpoint anything exactly. Only major thing to happen was I was in a 5-10mph front end collision about 3 month ago. My front right corner hit the rear left corner of a Saturn Ion. Only damage on my veh was a cracked valance. I did throw a code that day, but cleared it by accident and it never came back. Before that I changed the gas filter and one of the lines...but that was no biggie.

How do I check the timing belt? What exactly am I looking for? The timing belt is a new one to me.

To add to this also, I can't let the 4Runner warm up. I basically have to get it, start it and drive off and it runs normal. It will start to act up (sluggish, loss of power, hesitation somewhat when stopped) when it warms up....but nothing like today when I started it and let it warm up.

Actually I wasn't bringing up the belt because I though something was wrong with it, but rather the crank bolt which has to come off to do the timing belt. If the crank bolt loosens up from not being properly torqued it can cause random misfires. More on that: http://www.motor.com/MAGAZINE/Articles/012007_04.html

You also had mentioned that the exhaust sounded funny when warming up right? You just might have a burnt valve. When the engine is cold and you're warming up to check for an exhaust valve leak hold your hand (when the exhaust is cold) over the tail pipe to see if there is a suction created when the cylinder misfires. It's a quick easy test to see if one of your exhaust valves are bent broken or sticking.
I had a mitsubishi come into the shop yesterday morning with similiar issues. I first pulled the plugs and found that the #2 plug was fouled so that steered me away from the injector misfireing. I then did a leakdown on said cylinder and found it to match the other cylinders within 5-15 psi. That eliminated the bad cylinder and bad valve idea. Went ahead and replaced the coil for plugs 2&3 and wahlah1 car runs like new. Just a small example for ya could be a bit of help. Good luck.

Thats another good one GOAT.....Pulley bolt

Solution--213 ft lbs of torque or impact wrench and RED LOCTITE.

But to check the timing belt there are marks that have to line the cam sprockets .....etc... TTORA has a FSM for a Tacoma so check out the procedure. Its to hard to post pictures here......You will have to pull the timing cover though. Also run a vacuum test on the engine will it is running--Just use the gauge off a hand held vacuum pump and see what you get. Should be between 15-20
