I am guessing the gap is at least .070. OP must have thought he bought a new 4runner after putting new ones in.

Mt. Goat, how much did those set ya back in the wallet if you don't mind me asking?

They were about $10 each.

I was joking about them not being too bad, and you would be surprised how little difference I noticed. I replaced them with NKG plugs and wires and also replaced the ignition coils since I have 266K. I got all parts on rockauto.com for very cheap. Plugs were $5, wire set around $30 and ignition coils were $23 each on closeout. I got the last 3.

Goes to show how powerful the stock coils are, they have a LOT of power to jump gaps that big.

Don't forget the anti-sieze guys.

It makes the next plug change a lot easier. Might save the head too.

Good tip. What kind of anti-sieze do you use?

I use the copper based anti-sieze. Just my 2 cents.......rarely the steel threads of a spark plug can become stuck to the aluminum head and cause galling or tear out. A few dollars of anti-sieze is cheap insurance.

Definitely will use it next time I change my plugs. Are the Napa Parts spark plugs as good as the Dealer sells?

Denso or NGK only.

trying to save 5 bucks will reduce the performance and might even cause carbon build up = burned valve.

Changed out plugs/wires, as promised. Also cleaned the MAF (oily) and Throttle body (black), and replaced older air filter.

she starts up real quick like and i can get the rear wheels to chirp of the line! acceleration would bog down if i got in the skinny pedal after shifting to second, but now it's a SUPER clean power curve.

i'll NEVER put off this 2 hour job again! (well, maybe i will, 'cause it drives like a new truck again!)

when in doubt, change 'em out!

changed plugs in my SC'd taco today... been 35k, never checked 'em yet... pulled a driver side plug and the gap was obviously larger than the new ones gapped correctly and when I went to check the gap, what was left of the iridium tip crumbled away!

how the heck this thing was even running is beyond me... too funny!

anyway, some never sieze and my truck tool bag plus 20 min and good to go! fired her up and all was smooth. Have not test drove it yet but I'm betting it's much better.

I was hoping the iridiums would last longer but not so much. 30k it is!!

got lazy and did not check resistance in the wires, will have to do that soon. still rockin' the stock OEM's.
