Now I love Toyotas and im sure your truck is fast and all but if
the guy in the Cobra which runs high 13 1/4 (with a bad driver)
was truly racing you for all his car was worth im pretty
sure you would lose
If not then damn you sure have
one faaaaaaast rig

Not absolutely true....I ran across a '00 or newer mustang sporting all the Rousch (sp) racing appearal. From the full body kit, to a pod full of gauges and even the cobra wheels...well he came running up on me after we left a light and started rev'ing...I just waited until the next light (knowing my best shot is off the line) to go...long story short, I put a good 8+ cars on him...let off, to see him do a nice "ricer fly by" when I notice his bumper says "mustang" no "gt" emblem there...I"m betting he was v6 auto with a bunch of wanna be fast parts...wing/wheels/gauges, but still slow as *&%

I took my SC'd 4R to the track this weekend. It had rained the night before and the officials would only allow a 1/8-mile course. I made three T&T runs to see what the results would be.
The temperature was 60* - 64* with relative humidity and I am not sure what the elevation was --- I'd guess about 1000ft. I ran all three runs with 32 psi tire pressure in street dress with some light stuff in the back of the car. The engine was in stock SC'd trim with the exception of the BKR6EK NGK plugs gapped at .032. I feel pretty confident that the plugs were not compatible and negatively affected the performance to some slight degree. The intake and exhaust was also stock.
For my first run I started from idle and the engine stumbled off the line. My 0-60’ time was 2.368 and my 1/8 mile ET was 10.6 / 65.82 mph. I assumed a 16.45 ¼-mile ET. My second run was from a 2000rpm preload and my 60’ time was 2.404 seconds with a 10.878 / 64.43 mph 1/8-mile ET (estimated 16.86 ¼-mile ET). My final run was at a 2500rpm preload and the results were a 0-60’ time of 2.323 seconds and a 10.69 / 65.09 mph ET (estimated 16.56 ¼-mile ET).
Now you have some facts, as lack luster as they may be.

Interesting stuff!
This is probably a dumb question, but if you had a 4x4 rig, can you drag it in 4x4 mode for better traction?
I want an S/C
Well, have fun all.

I got it because I knew when it was coming out that it was the fastest SUV built until that time and is still in the top 5. Anyone who appreciates cars/trucks knows the specs more or less of vehicles they appreciate.

If you go up against a S/C 4x2 S-Runner or Xtracab PreRunner (3.4L standard tacomas) with a good driver you will loose hands down - my guesstimate is that it's a good 600lbs lighter than your rig with a touch more hp....
But the track will tell the story for sure and motortrend's tests really have no meaning unless they do more than 3 runs. You can't derive jack scientifically from 3 runs. Their testing sample is FAR too small plus you have all the stupid lurking variables that they conveniently leave out. I can go into WAAAAAAAY more detail on the statistical aspect of their tests but Ill digress as I JUST had a final in statistics and would prefer not to use that material right now...lol
Finals are OVER!!!
**beer mmmmm** **MORE beer mmmmmm** LOL
Liver sciroscis from prolonged inebreation here I come!!

Yeah I was wondering that too.. Wouldn't you get a lot better shot off the line in 4WD..? I also wondered if you would suffer later on down the track because the front would be consuming some of your power (if that makes any sense)...

Yea your probably right, for some reason
the v6's attract the "ricer" crowd like you
wouldn't believe. But that mentality exists with almost any
type of car. I ran into a very similar
v6 stang in jersey and smoked him bad,
he had this big ugly body kit, a double decker wing,
goofy "euro" lights, stickers, It was downright fugly.
Jeff, if you could go 14's that would be respectable as hell
for a vehicle thats gotta weigh more than 4000 pounds,
15, 16's would be respectable for a 4x4, apples and oranges, know what I mean?.
No doubt, those super charged 4runners must haul ass and
I would really love to own one.

Wanna see fast? I got a bone stock 1st gen.
Old lady came up next to me at a stoplight, started revving her motor, I couldn't believe it! I must have been caught by surprise because she beat me off the line. But once I shifted into second I left her in the dust!
Course, she was on a Lark EasyRider.
Most Runners just ain't that fast, but after 18 years it's still running. At least I'm winning that race!

Ahem,
speaking of fast tacoma's my 98 sr5 v6 just got back from the dyno with 230Hp and 260ft lbs of tq. I really have a problem with traction, not a problem with acceleration. If im at a rolling start, i can beat almost every car on the road-- just at stoplights i burn through the first 3 gears ( like the chrysler hemi commercial--just replace the rail dragster with a tacoma and thats me ) and i just ran a 14.5 a 101mph at da track
as far as cars i can waste
mustang 5.0
mustang 4.6
Audi TT
z28
SS
Corvette ( not the Z06 )
jeep things
turbo preludes ( greddy 9psi street legal kit )
jetta turbo
beetle turbo
WRX
porsche 928
volvo c70
but most of these are if im already moving-- i raced a cobra through downtown sacramento and blew through like 20 stoplights before giving up and letting him win ( we were going over 100 in a residential district )
im not too much into racing anymore, but merging onto the freeway is still fun-- so is going to lake tahoe uphill at 7000feet at 140mph.
Ill never forget when i raced a CHP going to lake tahoe once, he was playing the "ill catch up to you and flash my lights when im like 3 feet behind you" buuuuuuuuuut, every time i would see the headlights of the caprice with the bars in front of the headlights i would floor it and lose him until the next turn, then repeat the process until he finally caught me in my parents driveway in Truckee
but he only wrote me a ticket for 84mph

Duffdog-
I second that. Can we see a track slip? A 101MPH trap speed is extremely high for an SUV.
And how did you manage to go 140MPH? Who was gauging that speed since your speedo goes to 110MPH and the stock cutoff is 106 or something?
More details please.

Not to discount that 12.9 (wow! nice!) but if he hadn't of been sleepin' at the line, he woulda' had you. It looks like he was really making some horsepower.
You got a VERY nice launch mozzie!

So duffdog, what about your 101MPH trap at 14.5 seconds?
I am calling on duffdog until I see proof.

Duffdog, I to want to hear more about your truck.
Mozzie, come on, a 12.9?! That's only like 3 full seconds faster that a brand new Jeep limited... Way to go.
