And if you want to compare yota's vs heeps, at least compare apples to apples. The 4.7 v8 is what you'd compare to. And the 4.7L with a blower would eat that heep ALIVE...and last longer and get better milage and be more reliable and would still offroad just as well, if not better than that heep.
Im sure the heep is a great all around vehicle, but I'll be sticking to yodas.
Not flaming just posting an opinion.

This is like the race between the rabbit and the turtle...you think your Jeep will make it to 300k miles on its original engine? In the long run you'll definately win the race to the mechanic/parts house/dealer, and that's a race I don't mind loosing.

I wont need to worry about it. Dont have 100K on it and it'll be another trail rig within 2 years from now so Im not worried at all whether or not it'll last 300K. Until then, I'll enjoy riding around in plush heated leather blowing the doors off Toyota trucks.

Still not comparing apples to apples; 5.9L is not equal to 4.7L nor is it equal to 3.4L. IF Toyota was going to make a 5.9L engine it would put out around 285hp/400 ft/lbs. (based on hp/tq versus displacement averaged from the 4.7, 3.4, and even the 3.0 to drag the numbers down). But it's all irrelevant (just like the magazine numbers).
Not saying your Jeep isn't fast, I know it is, I've driven one. Generating a whopping 240-some hp from a miniscule 5.9L of displacement just isn’t that intriguing to me…

You're going to give me a run for my money, but you wont get past. Look at all the stuff you need to do to just match the stock performance of a 5.9. All it takes is a little engine work and free up the intake and exhaust and you aren't going to touch the Jeep. Yes, your Celica more than likely will win but its a car, not an SUV. Also, it came stock off the showroom floor with 265 hp and 365 ft/lbs of torque.

fpkelly-
You should know you are going to get ambushed on a Toyota Forum, especially with a Jeep avitar. I mean seriously, what would the Jeep Forum guys do if we went over there with a 4Runner avitar saying we were going to kick everyone's butt in a race?

Chrysler Products BLOW!!!!!
I will never own another Chrysler product as long as I live. I had a Dodge Ram and it was a big POS. I was a reg. cab short bed with the 5.9L. It was pretty quick, probably a mid 15 sec truck.
Yeah, pretty quick to the dealership that is.

1/4 mile? With all due respect, a stock 5.0 runs low 14 sec 1/4's
my 5.0 runs high 12's all day with slicks but its far from stock.
Now I love Toyotas and im sure your truck is fast and all but if
the guy in the Cobra which runs high 13 1/4 (with a bad driver)
was truly racing you for all his car was worth im pretty
sure you would lose
If not then damn you sure have
one faaaaaaast rig

I drag race a 1982 Suzuki motorcycle, the SC 4Runner (5speed) is my "tow" vehicle. Somehow, I convinced my wife that the supercharger was absolutely necessary to tow my bikes and trailer :-) Anyway, I find myself at the dragstrip at least twice a month during in the summertime. It is a blast running the bike from zero to 138mph in ten seconds flat but ... I get even more enjoyment blowing the doors off, or at least giving the unsuspecting hopped up street machines a hell of a run for their money!
With a new CENTERFORCE dual friction clutch, new rubber and some spring tweaking, I am hoping for at least one run in the 14's, I plan to give it a shot this Saturday.
