Ash tray mod :-)

Hey guys,

While I know that this mod isn't a big deal, I thought I might pass it on.

I think this topic came up about a week ago about. In anycase, it reminded me that I needed to do this mod to my 1998. Basically you take some double sided tape and some black felt and line the inside of your ash tray (assuming your of the non-smoking persuasion). This way when you hit a bump or two, you don't have that rattling, knocking change noise. The tape actually cushions it better too. It works great. Here is a pic to illustrate what I'm talking about:

Double-sided tape lining the ash tray:

Felt pieces:

As you can see, I have 4 extra pieces I cut out from the original cloth. If anyone wants one of these, email me your address and I'll mail it to you (tape not included). I dont know if it will fit 1st, 2nd or 4th gens though.

Hey that's a great idea thanks for sharing. We have a store on base that does hobbies and crafts and I remember seeing tons of different colors of felt in there! That's a mod I will be doing for sure since my Runner is also NO SMOKING!

Good idea Bob!! I was taking my ash tray (full of change) out when going off road because of all the rattling.
If you want to send me some felt I can reimburse you for the postage/cost of felt...
Do you still have my address?

Hey Bob,

I did the exact same thing a while back but no elaborate write-up, nice one on that.

Hey Bob, Al, great ideas.

Bob, I just stuck this on the Tips page.

Hey, anyone know where I can get a nice animated yellow light bulb?
I don't care for the geen/blue one I have now that you click for the tip.

I'd rather have a nice yellow one that flashes.
I found one, but it had a white background around it.
I need one that has a clear background.

The type below is nice, but it has the white background.

One more left!

Guys,

There's only one more left! JasonB, Travis, and Brian (NDLunchbox) have claimed 3 of the 4.

These felt pads will give you an additional 4-5 RWHP. If you look carefully, they say "Mugen Power" on the edges.

Email me if you want the last, magical piece.

Don't forget to punch a little hole in the felt so your light will still shine through! Unless your light burned out like mind :-( I picked up a new bulb at my local Stealer today, the bastards charged me $2.50 for the smallest damn bulb I've ever seen in my life! I hate that dealership, can't wait to get back to my friends at Gates Toyota in Indiana!
Ps. Has anyone else's bulb burned out? I have a huntch that it was all the change ratteling around in there that shortened its life... the felt should help!
