Anyone know what this is?

In rebuilding my engine I noticed that in the Haynes repaire manual it notes that an oil hole plug goes here instead of this thing with the hoses. One side routes back to the block and I am not really sure where the longer hose goes, but I think it attaches right near the thermostat. Working on it as I type, so quick help would be much appreaciated!!!

Thanks guys.

Yep he's right. It's an oil cooler. Hey MTL ever been to Bens for smoked meat sandwiches? I love that place. I'm living in Ottawa now so I get to go once in a while.

I thought so, but I couldn't find any documentation on it in Haynes. Thanks guys!

TRunner, one thing about that oil cooler there is an O-ring behind it where it attaches to the block. Replace it now while you have access. They tend to get hard and leak, and it's a major PITA to replace when the engine is in the truck. The O-ring is about $5 and you just have to remove that one big bolt in the middle of the cooler.

I was wondering about that. There was not one there when I removed it in the first place. I will grab on on the way home today!

Bens has the best smoked meat. I think they are better than shwartzies for sure. The smoked meat sandwich is great. The place was built in the forties and hasn't been changed since. Lots of good atmosphere. So is there any good trail running near Montreal other than the Decarrie?
