oops my bad, I was hoping between threads and I guess I missed it. I hope I can make this work with my setup. Im using the doweny cone connected to the MAF. I just hope the tube is long enough.

Again, for those of you who are a bit more budget-minded, be sure to use a threaded cleanout plug in the front silencer cavity if you do this mod. They are much stronger than the typical cap.

Wow... OLD thread.

Nope, the MIT fit just fine right out of the box. It's a tight fit, but I've never worked on another truck with one so I don't know if it's tighter than normal. My guess is that it's a feature.

Pics wise... I just looked and don't seem to have any. It looks a lot like any other MIT install.



Hutch... Yeah, it'll work, but the fit will be tighter 'cause of that extra inch hanging off of the TB. It _will_ fit though, you're just gonna feel like you're really tweaking on it.

I was under the impression that they had the same intake system.

Can you buy JUST the tube and not the filter?

Yeup. There are plenty of vendors, but as an example, check the AutoAnything link in the first message of this thread. It takes you to a listing for just the tube. You're looking for Airaid part number 510-934.

If you're gonna go this route, try to buy them as cheap as you can. $100+ is a lot to pay for something like this.

I have an Airaid MIT that I would love to sell. I did not like it because it made the engine too throaty when floored going up the mountains here in Colorado. The sound was enough to drive me out of the vehicle. I did not feel much difference between the Mit and the stock tubes. I went back ot stock, much happier! It has a lifetime satisfaction guarantee. I need to contact Airaid and return it.

I just contacted Airaid. Their No Hassle warranty is just that. They said that I just need to return it to the place that I bought it for a full refund. Now all I need to do is find the receipt.

quick question, sorry if this has been posted or answered before, but if you buy just the intake tube, like the one you had pictured, you can still use the stock air box right? I wanted to do the ISR mod for a while, but I am too lazy, and would rather just buy the air raid, and drop it in, but I want myair box to stay, and pics post install? Thanks!

Mark (or anyone that knows), is this what your original intake tube
looks like? Mine has 2 extra boxes on each side of it and I'm wondering
if you eliminated both of them?

What gets me is all the aftermarket intake tubes available (Airaid, AEM, Volant) don't list one for a '96-'98.
I'm trying to figure out why.

Man it's been a long time since I had my stock boxes on, but yeah, that looks familiar. You probably also have a "J tube" underneath. If you're gonna do the ISR, pull it all out and plug it up.

There _is_ a difference from the ISR to the Airaid, but I have no real proof outside of seat-of-the-pants which could be faulty. But frankly, considering the cost of the Airaid MIT, the ISR mod works quite well.
