Advice on rust repair needed .
I have a 97 runner .I just noticed that on my rear hatch there is rust .The rust is on top under the window molding . It is right across the top .But just under the moulding .I don`t know how much this will cost to repair .I`m thinking maybe buying a used hatch maybe .mine is ok except the rust .
What should I do ?

An 8 year old vehicle shouldn't be rusting already. Take it to the dealer and see if they'll fix it under warranty or something. If you have to fix it, fix it right...let a professional do it so they get it all and it don't come back.

It depends on how bad it is...
I am assuming that you mean that its showing from the outside, or at least it is starting from the outside in. If that is the case I would, if you are inclined and have done this before, do some grindage, rustoleum primer/bondo and paint again. If you don't feel comfy doing it you woudl be surprised that its really not that bad to four self.
Under my battery was quite a bit of corrosion/rust from a previous battery leaking all over the place. Last weekend I removed everything and sanded all do bare metal and used a rustoleum primer. Next weekend its all coming back out and Im going to just paint over it all at a friends that has some factory matched paint and I will call it a day. It wasn't bad at all, just surface rust crap but its always better to take care of it as soon as you see it if you plan on keeping your car in good shape.
