98 limited gear ratio

Hey guys I havent been on here in a long time.I been so wrapped up in getting my buick skylark ready for this spring I forgot about my 4runner!So I have been reading all day pretty much and I'm thinking of swapping out gears. So some questions.

1.Are all 4runners 30 spline axles?
2.Is there anything special I need to know about doin the rear with the electronic diff lock?I have only rebuilt gm 8.5's and ford 9' rear ends.
3.How much of a pain in the A@# is it to do the front with the Add?

Thanks ahead for any and all info.Take care Russ!

1. Rears yes.... All third gen 4runners use the turbo/v6 third member
2. not really, just like any other 8" toy diff
3. well ADD doesn't matter because you have to take that part off anyways.

If you know what your doing and how to properly set up gears then go for it. If not i'd let a pro do it.

Here's a great resource for you:

http://www.sonoransteel.com/phong/re...ic_locker.html

There are 3 options: 4.10, 4.30 and 4.56. I'm not sure if there was a gear ratio "rule" for all Limiteds, so definitely do the "mark the flange and rotate the tire/drum" test. Yes, you can see the difference between 4.10 and 4.30.
