That would mean no elocker though since the elocker housing only sports drums. It would be silly to have drums on the TRD version and disks on the regular version....
i think it would be rather trivial to modify the housing to accept disk brakes. seems to me like the tacoma is becoming less of a workhorse and more of an image thing, as most other small trucks have become in the last 10 years

I'm starting to wonder if Toyota is really gonna unveil the 'normal' (non-X) '05 Taco in NY.
I'm wondering too. Bummer! Maybe Toyota is holding off on showing this 4x4 truck so they don't kill sales of the 2004 model.

LOL, this is even more true for the "full size" trucks! I bet the majority of the huge, full size 4 door crew cab pickups haul nothing heavier than 6 bags of groceries or 2 sheets of plywood. It's all about having an intimidating image.

Uh, well. When was the Tacoma ever considered a workhorse? The frame is too flexible to haul anything of size, along with no floating axle and a non-fully boxed frame.

I would say that the majority of private truck owners, including myself, just like the flexiblity of having a bed incase you ever need it.

Good news is that the 05 Taco does have fully boxed frame rails, more crossmembers and is obviously bigger than the current Taco.

It will certainly be able to be more of a worktruck if that is your requirement. I would think the size would not be ideal for off roading but it seems to fit the bill of a worktruck.

That is ugly. I hate the fenders. They remind me of the new Chevy Cheyanne or whatever it is. Why do they make all new vehicles look like spaceships?

i might be alone, but i like it.

i dont like those rims thatre carried over from the runner -- i think the 'diamond cut' thing on them is really tacky.

oh man, those fenders are worse then the 4th Gen 4Runners. I don't understand the need to go angular.

Yea those are ugly rims, but that is fixable. I don't like those wheel wells. I've seen the Colorado in person and the wheel wells are ugly. The Tacoma looks to have the exact shape. Eventually all cars/trucks will look alike I guess. We still can't see the front. Doesn't look too bad, but the wheel wells kill it. Did they think the white color in the winter would make it camoflage?

the colorado wouldn't be too bad of a truck if it didn't have those ugly "inward" fender flares on the bed. just looks cheap. and angular wheel wells do indeed suck.

the big difference is that one is a chevy, the other is a toyota. id always buy the toyota over the chevy.

but yea, youre right, its a bit disheartening to see how similar the two are in shape.

Don't forget Toyota already works w/ GM selling the Matrix/Vibe, Corolla/Prism. I just hope that the new taco isn't gonna have a twin Colorado... And if it is, atleast we know what it will somewhat look like since those are already on the road.

The white Double Cab is not very photogenic, is it. The cab seems a little short in height, looks like it has had a chop job on it. Hopefully it will look better in the flesh.

I like the 4.0L but may have to look for a '04 Lunar Mist with TRD and chrome package.
Not impressed with the generic '05 GM look.
