Solid Axle this, Solid Axle that, Bla Bla Bla Bla. I own a genuine Toyota built Solid Axle truck as well. So what.
This is all about IFS. 35's and the fact that minor lift and a little triming will clear them.

What you need to look at is the distance from the center of the ball joint bolt hole to the ouside of the arm that would come in contact with the tire.

Yeah Jackson, those ATS arms help a great deal. I was rubbing my factory ones real bad with 285's then I changed over to the ATS arms and I have plenty of room now. I think I might eventually go to at least a 305/70, but I will have to save up for the money for new rims.

hmmmm....
Damn rock crawlers!
When are you going to be ditching all of that shiiiiat and load up on a long travel IFS? Rocks are for buggies and trucks you don't care about bashing, brother!
Nice work my friend. Maybe it's time I revisited your site again to get updated on your latest tech. Should soon be warning you when I'll be visiting the land of the sun again.

Nice work Steve. 35s are a must have. I still drag my diff on the better trails I run. So do they not make this size in a real tire?
I am curious how well your diffs will like the change over. Keep me posted if you experience any failure.

The Yoko's were only $150. That's really all I wanted to spend on a tire that will get chewed up and wear out anyway.

Retail Discount Tire prices for the size 315/75/16:
Goodyear MT/R: $265.00 each
BFG Mud Terrain: $214.00
I needed 5 tires plus mount and balance and trail hazzard warranty. The other good thing about the Yokohama's is that they only have a 2 ply side wall. Should be pretty easy to cut that on a rock.
Then you get a new tire if that should happen. I was only able to take out 1 MT/R the entire time I had them, those suckers are too tough.

As I said before, I will be interested to see how the tire situation works, but if you can get them replaced quickly, then it is no big deal.
The list on 315 MT/R's is pretty obscene. On a 15" rim you can get 37's for less than that.
All this time I thought that a person needed 3 inches of lift just for 285's, who knew?

I REALLY like how you trimmed the TJM, that looks sharp.
Im not crazy about the tires though, looks more like a mallrat with those street slicks, but ill take your word that they can walk up the rocks. (dont dare bring those out to my territory)
also seems like you had to dish out a lot cash to make everything right. i.e. steering/oil coolers and the spare tire rack.
however, the most kickass thing is byfar the spare tire mount. i have been craving one of those ever since i got my body lift. can you tell me how much you paid for it? (pm if you wish)
were your MTRs worn out, how many miles did you get out of them?
are you getting the same amount of suspension travel with those heavy/big tires? do they stuff all the way into the fenders?
no way will 35s ever successfully stuff into a 4Runner with LTD flares with this little lift.

Nice job Steve! Welcome to the wonderful world of AT's. I've been hanging with all the trucks with mud tires with no trouble at all on the rocks, as I'm sure you'll soon find too. I just wish the Dueler AT's came in a bigger size, so it looks like you picked a good one for the money.
I wonder how this setup would work on my limited with roughly the same exact lift?
Chris
