2001 4Runner Disable DRL - High Beam Indicator
I have read here and other places about the process of disabling the DRL on a 2001. I have also read that doing so will give you a faulty high beam indicator light.
Has this intermittant problem been resolved and if so, how? I would like to disable mine but don't want the high beam indicator to flicker on and off.
No flames about why I want to disable please.

Welcome to the board. Do a quick search as this topic has been discussed before. It varies from truck to truck on whether you'll have this problem or not. Eventually it does go away as the relay burns out but doesn't effect the working of the lights.

so this problem goes away? yeah it's not serious, but kinda annoying.
my high beam indicator goes on like normal when the highs are on, but when the headlights are off, it shows up, not as strong as when the highs are on, but it faintly shows up.

I cut the correct wire a month after buying the truck - no problems since.
As for the horn upgrade, I'm not sure what year you have, but the stock horns on my 2001 sound perfect. I think Toyota may have changed to the more 'American' sounding horns in '00 or '01. Check it out, as is then should be an easy plug and play swap.
