xlaxx's 93 P/U DLX 4WD Build-Up Thread
Howdy all!
Been lurking a bit. Thanks for the welcome. Very partial to Yota pickups of my vintage, so been following irab's build in earnest.
History:
Purchased used 12/99 w/ 53K. Minor front end damage, PO hit a dog. Oil swaps every 3K by PO. Had all paperwork.
Repairs:
TRD clutch @ 60K pressure plate glazed over & chirping (x2). Timing chain & rear seal @ 98K. Head gasket & seals @ 130K. Water pump & front crank seal @ 160K.

Rig was in the body shop over Christmas,... my neighbor across the street tagged the front bumper and took out the valence. New stock bumper and repainted valence with Dupont stone protectant paint!
I have to give James Dean Graphics in Tuscon Arizona props,... the logo on the back was put on while in the shop. Looks sharp indeed!

Took advantage several years ago of the dealership offering free replacement of exhaust systems due to corrosion.
From the converter on back, it got rusty after 6 years of salty roads. The muffler had popped a few seams too. Dealership replaced it,... WooHoo! These exhaust sytems are one piece, so I think Toyota knew they had a rust problem with these parts. Nice and shiny!
My neighbor came out and was admiring my rig. I think he bought his yota because mine has been so reliable! He 'was' a Ford Ranger owner,...

That truck doesn't look bad at all for a Va. truck. Too bad they didn't offer free leaf spring replacements for all the flat springs out there. lol.

Yep,... I knew someone was going to point that out,... flat as roadkill on 66E.
Last night, I ordered a Trail Master add-a-leaf kit. $52 shipped. The U-bolts will hopefully be here soon too.

haha, I'd rather be roadkill on 66E than on I-95. I swear every time I am on that highway, people think the interstate sign is the speed limit sign.

Another shameless pic of the new Toyota exhaust.
Installed (4) Ranchos 9000XLs last week. No Rancho vs. Bilstein debates, but the shocks were a good buy with rebate for the 'My Ride' remote control/kit -- FREE!, w/ free shipping, and 15% off coupon too.
The 18 yr. old, stock, shocks were tired and could be compressed easily with little resistance.

You would be surprised how much a horn is used in Northern Va. People really don't care here, using their cell phones, cutting off others, distracted driving, etc...TXT'ing really pisses me off too. A $20 ticket for TXT'ing...a slap on the wrist.
Anyway, I put some muscle in with Hi and Lo note FIAMM horns. The gay uncle farting horn just wasn't cutting the mustard. The mod was long overdue.... Sorry to all the purists out there! LOL

Hahaha. No, those are the new ubolts that will hold the single leafs I am adding to the rear. Just a little extra 0-2" addition to perk it up some.

Yesterday, I was able to get a fellow Yotatech member over to the house! Irab rolled up in his '93 Loose Caboose and helped me install the '82 Supra AFM mod. Irab had the custom bracket already made up and it was just a matter of screwing everything down and JB Welding the intake tube.
Shameless pic of the 93 Yo's together after we did the mod.
That's Irab holding the tube for proper fit.
It fit really snug and wasn't going anywhere. The hardest part was waiting for the JB Weld to dry over night. The '82 Supra AFM was plug and play. I was surprised at how much air was being sucked in and the sound of the air flow into the filter.

Irab had mentioned that he had performed the HID lamp replacement mod in his 93. I still have the sealed bulbs in mine. These are the Sylvania Silverstars. I think from a comparison point, they are just as bright but it would have been nice to see them both at night. I probably will not be doing the lamp mod anytime soon as I have another set of the Silverstars in the shed!,... I like them.
