Toyota745's 1986 DLX Pick up Build up Thread
First off I had originally bought a 1985 sr5, but also came along a 1986 a little later on. I picked up the 85 for $300,
the engine ran like a dream, but the body was shot (whats new?) plus there was a very poorly made box put on. I
would have decided to use that frame as it was a solid axle, but one of the previous owners had welded the calipers
to the axle (go figure), so it got striped down for parts
Here is a pic of that one:
now as for the '86, the motor smoked like a bugger, and once again, the body had rust. the seats were also bad,
and someone decided to crudely cut 6x9 speaker holes behind the seats. so the 85 engine went in that truck, as
with the seats. i put jl 4" speakers in the front, and filled the 6x9 holes with some kicker ks-690's.
here is what the '86 looked like when i picked it up:
now we wern't gonna fix that box, so the hunt was on for a different one. we came accross a ford ranger flareside,
and decided to give it a try. (Not to mention some new front fenders.)
we decided it looked good, so we continued the project, which is now nearing completion, until I gather more funds to lift,
and get better tires. but here are a few pictures with the body done:
Lemme know what you think so far, I'm happy to hear input!

Right now I'm not sure, it looks better in person, but i might get running boards or something lol, or i might fabricate some trim pieces
