I rolled on 2 coats wet sanded with 600 grit wet then roll on another coat going to wet sand with 800 then another coat wet sand with 1000 then for the final coat I will wet sand with 1500 then 2000! So far I have sanded the first coat because of a few runs with 600 grit wet and have no issue with sand scratches. i dident fallow the other guys on grit of paper!

And another thing is make sure when you do some body work you will sand down the paint with like 80 grit to get to bare metal! Make sure and hit thoes spots with 220 and 320 others wise yes you will see sanding scratches!

ok guys the ole truck is done! I did new fenders, bushwacker fender flairs, hood, front window, trail gear rear bumper, painted the whole truck in and out and painted my tool box black. If anyone has and questions on a roll on paint job let me know also let me know what you think about the truck![IMG][/IMG]

next thing I want to do is lift it but that might take awhile!

You know I told myself that I would never get flairs cuz when i was in my teens I wanted mud all over my truck. but now I love having them on there. They were easy to put on and as you can see I just left them black. The trail gear bumper is great man. I had one on my 4runner and loved it so I thought since I sold that, it was time to put one on the pickup.

Well Toyota 3.4 would be cool cuz its Toyota and has good power. But 4.3 just seems a lot less work and has good power and proformance parts. Also a bit cheaper

oh i gotcha. a coulpe people i know have some s-10's with the 4.3. it seems like a pretty trusty motor. there was a '91 yota around my area for sale that has a 4.3 in it but it looked ragged. lol

no I thought at first it was going to be hard! Its takes some practice and alot of time! All in all Im very happy the way it turned out! The paint I used is very strong, when I was putting my rear bumper on I hit the side of the truck with the bummper and it dident do anything to the paint and it was only like a week old! Also the paint that I got has a UV protector in it so it wont fade like some other roll on paint jobs tend to do! If anyone need some info in this paint job let me know. There is a web site just kinda like yotatech for just roll on paint jobs!

Yes, it looks amazing and my runner will need a thorough body/paint job very soon. I'm thinking about trying this method so any advice would be fantastic. Thanks!

check out this web site. http://rolledon.forummotion.com/rolled-on-forums-c1/ some good info and a few old dudes that do this stuff all the time! Biggest thing thats going to come to your mind when you start doing this is (what the hell am I doing) right in the middle of painting just stay calm and take your time things will come out looking pertty good!

hey how about posting some details ..
how long did this take you ?
What paint did you use ?
rollers ?
sandpaper?
did you use clear coat?
Ive never painted a car before seen some threads like yours and just might try it one day and look back at this thread.
By the way the website you posted has some good info ..
