Haven't done much to the retro-runner.
I might be getting back one of the trucks I built years ago. If I do, the suspension will be going under the 4runner. Also worked out a trade on a 4.7:1 transfer case.
Picture of the '85 Xcab that I may be getting back. AllPro leaves in front and Chevy 63 inchers in the rear.

Worked the DA sander for an hour or so today. The paint around the bottom of the truck is spray-on bedliner. A PITA to remove!
I'm not going to waste a lot of time on body work. Fix the rust holes, bang out some of the dent, and shoot it with white implement paint.

That bedliner must be a gummy pain. I took four layers of marine paint off a boat last year so I know sanding! I was just thinking while you ready the truck for paint you might want to take off the aluminum Kayline bedrails and throw some rust proofer in the holes. A lot of 4Runners have rust where the holes were drilled for the top. Just trying to add to your to-do list.

Oh yeah! I have a huge rust hole growing on the rear passenger side underneath the 'snap rail'.

It sure is relaxing watching you sand. You've made great progress. White paint is going to look great.

That's my thinking. When I get the rusty spots around the windshield fixed... it's going to be fairly straight. I had thought about spray bombing it with a flat desert tan. But now I think it deserves a good white enamel paint job. I traded off my paint gun so I'll have to buy a new one. I think I remember how to paint a truck! It's been a while!

The kids love the 4runner. This is the reason I traded off my '81 Toyota 4x4.
Oh, and my wife drove it home from our little family excursion. Her first time behind the wheel. She knows how to drive a standard shift.... kinda. Slipped the clutch a bit too much on starts, but she'll get used to it.

I wish I worked that fast! That's a grey primer coat. Still have several rough spots to smooth out before shooting color. I need to buy 2 new front fenders to get it perfect. Probably will just pound out the dents in the fenders and doors and call it good. It's a trail rig/toy. I wouldn't want to have fun with it if the body was perfect.

Getting closer to being ready to paint. Tacked in pieces of sheetmetal in the bigger rust holes around the windshield and smoothed it out with body filler.
