Yeah I was looking at those, looks like a way better design, I don't care for the 2 piece adapter plates, too many gaskets, kind of overcomplicated, lol. I'm just not sure if it will work with my carb, since I haven't been able to identify what I have as of yet. Tomorrow I'll see if I can find a serial # on the Redline adapter plates I have, then maybe I can figure out if the LCE Spiral adapter will work with the carb I have.

What does the LCE spiral Adapter even do besides eliminate 1 gasket?? Any other reasons for it?

The spirals inside the adapters bore force the air to enter the I take and cylinder rotating clockwise. This improves fuel atomization and optimizes the air/fuel ratio in all cylinders, in turn providing a more complete burn and consistent fuel supply.

Well I finally got my LCE spiral adapter plate, Holley fuel regulator, and fuel pressure gauge ordered tonight. One step closer to getting the truck back up and reliable again.

Thanks, yeah I can't wait to start driving it again, feels like I've neglected it forever, guess that's what I get for having "too many projects" (<- wife's sentiment, not mine, lol)

I got my LCE Performance spiral adapter plate and my fuel regulator & fuel gauge from Summit Racing both on Thursday afternoon before I went to work. 2 day delivery, that's pretty quick for snail-mail, lol. So I still need to get a few barb elbow fittings and a reducer fitting so I can mount the fuel gauge to the regulator, also need to pick up a inline fuel filter, some fuel line, hose clamps, and some vacuum line. Hopefully I can get it finished on Mon or Tues when I'm off work.

Does the Spiral adapter plate really help that much? I hear about everyone using it but I have searched it and can't find any info on it! I have a weber with offy intake, but currently switching to propane!

I think people use it to get a good seal between carb and intake since the redline adapter plate seems to cause leaks almost certainly (which pisses me off since redline must know and doesn't do anything about it). I doubt it really makes a difference in fuel economy or performance with its design, kind of like this BS thing

Buuuut I've never used it or tested it, so don't take my word for it, it's my opinion.

Turbulence below a carb = good. Helps make a homogeneous air/fuel mixture.

Turbulence before a throttle plate = useless.

^^He's right. The late night as seen on TV "Tornado" was designed to go in the intake which was completely worthless. The LCE spiral adaptor is between the carb and manifold so it helps atomize the air/fuel mix going into the intake for a more complete and efficient burn.

OK that I understand and I agree, fuel atomisation is always important past the carb or injectors (especially on carbs), however I don't agree with what someone above said about a ''swirling'' effect making the air rotate clockwise I just don't see how it can do that that's what I meant.

Well the spiral adapter is out, the bolt pattern doesn't match up to my "mystery Carb" so I'm stuck with the Red line adapter for now. I did get all the brass NPT 90* barb and reducer fittings to mount my fuel gauge and pressure regulator, I also picked up an inline filter, fuel line and vacuum hose and clamps, so if all goes well I should have her running tomorrow!

I was kinda assuming that it was a holley 350 cfm, probably like what LCE performance sells, but after looking on their site, it looks nothing like it. It doesn't say Holley anywhere on it and I can't find in serial # on it either, I figured I'd throw some pics up, maybe one of you guys might be able to identify what I have.

^^^here's a pic of the Holley 350cfm from LCE Performance

I got the carb, fuel regulator, and fuel gauge installed today. I was able to get it running and drive it. it idles good and seems to have a little more power on the bottom end, runs a lot better than the last time I drove it. I still need to get an air cleaner and a breather for the valve cover.

All the unnecessary smog related vacuum lines have been removed. All i have now are 2 vacuum lines for the distributor, and the one for the brake booster. Later on id like to go back and clean up the engine, and remove the rest of the smog related equipment, charcoal canisters, that 11 bolt plate underneath the intake manifold, and get block off plates for the rest of the stuff. The fuel gauge was reading 2 psi, seemed to be running great, so I didn't adjust it. I had to take a couple poser pics while out playing around in the snow. I'm pretty happy so far with how its running.
