So, I spent all day pulling out the bored motor and 4 speed and got the stocker and five speed in, even had to swap crossmember, bolted up the trans and noticed the engine was about 2" too far forward on the mounts.
I checked out my crosmember location on both frames and mine was more towards the front, i was pretty bummed when I saw that.
So tomorrow I have to put the L42 snail speed back in but it needs a new mount.
I guess ill have to weld some extentions off the mounts or something because I really want a five speed, but since I graduated I don't have access to a welder.

I love the truck man.
HF has good welders. We have the 100 amp i think, and my little brother has welded everything on my truck for me (he used to work at a metal shop and i trust his welds more than mine). My frame patch is still holding up after almost 2 years.
I think it is only 100 bucks right now.

so, the stock engine runs, it starts fine then about 5 seconds in(i haven't ran it much but it seemed to develop when it warm up a bit, and even when warm, it sounds great for about 5 secs then it starts the noise) , it has a slight rattle or knock, if this were a rod knock i would think it would be constant from the get-go, i was advised to hook up an oil pressure gauge and see if it has good pressure, so any advise would be greatly apreciated, and also, the bearings in the fan are a little sloppy and i dont know how long the oil was in the engine but i was planning on changing it before driving anyway.

so, the sound turned out to be nothing, i got a rebuild for the carburetor and took it apart to find out the primary venturi has come loose, thought that was weird, it slides in and out about 3/16" so i went to the parts carburetor and got what i needed off of it, tomorrow im gonna get a can of parts cleaner and Git'er'done!, also got a 1000w power inverter out of a friends rv he was getting rid of, so it will be nice to have power wherever i go camping.

So yesterday i grew a carb spacer in the rapid prototype machine to see how it fits and see if i did my measurments right, since the helpful bunch at LCE couldnt bother responding to my email and helping out me with a few dimensions...
It had to soak in a caustic tank overnight to dissolve the support material so ill find out today.
Once i get the final design done on mastercam im going to have it cut out on the wire EDM, ill be posting pics soon.

I have a 1980 that is in serious need of an upper smog pump bracket, bolts, hoses, etc, as well as the accelerator cable and linkages. If you have extra parts of that type, I'd be interested in buying them.

Finally got the computer working again so here's some pics of the adapter plate im making for the Weber 32/36.
just a test piece i grew in the rapid prototype machine to see if everything would line up, all the holes matched up flawless.
Printed out of ABS plastic
Final design on Mastercam, 3/4" thick billet aluminum
Not sure if im going to do it on the wire EDM or the 5 axis HAAS.
Anyone up for more pictures of the shop?
Rebel Marine, sorry but I don't have any extra of those parts.
