I need to figure out how to rethread it from 12x1.5 to 12x1.25, any suggestions?
I was thinking of finding or making a shift extender like circuit hero has for hondas but also an adapter
This is a real nice build thread fella, I had a mk1 Yota over here in the UK, sadly the wet climate over here makes the problem of the metal moth a whole lot worse so I was for ever working on keeping it at bay. I took the old 18r Hilux engine out and fitted the 18rg celica twin cam engine with the twin 40 solex carbs, that thing was ˟˟˟˟ off a shovel :-)
Keep up the good work bud

I'm doing the POR-15 on the frame and undercoat etc.. now so I dont have to worry about the rust as much in different climates later on.
Are you talking about my boombox? The screen saver is album artwork, not sure what a XBMC is though.
And update:
I borrowed my g-pa's handy man jack and changed out the cab and core bushings. I just need to pick up two more washers that I lost to finish the cab bushings. Here is one of the core bushings installed.
Edit: found the washers! Cab bushings are done
I saw this sweet '65 downtown today

Well guys, this has to be the update I'm most happy about to date.
I got some help from my roommates and my awesome friend Rubio.
The bed is back on!
There is Rubio and my roommate Rayne fixing up Rubio's civic. My truck and the bed they helped with in the background.
Long beds are long
And this is me. Hello Yotatech

Well dood. I just gotta give you big props for all this work here. I mean, you are a young man busying himself with fun and constructive work. Got some good supportive buds around you, making memories with this rig, a good dog, some food.
So many young men are out into trouble but you seem to have it going on. I mean, you coulda just got outta juvie..hahahah, but from what I see, you're ok and you don't mind some work and LOTS of detail and time you're putting into this project and for all of that, you should be commended.
I love the build, it's helped me, especially all the pix.
Keep up the good work man and keep posting.
Cool, Now go vacuum the carpet. hahahaha. jk.

Thanks Mark! Those are definitely some encouraging words, I appreciate it. Also I'm glad my build has helped you out!
The toy is street legal again, woot! I drove it today for the first time in several months. It still runs like a champ! And the ride is a lot smoother with those cab bushings.
Now I'm working on getting the seats to bolt in. I made a few cuts and bends to the seat rails and started on some seat brackets to match the holes with the frame rails. Here is what I have so far, I just need to use a drill press to cut out the holes.
And then pick up some hardware and the seats will be in!

Stopped by grandpa's again after work and used his drill press.
Here is how the seat brackets will work. I bought 8 M8x1.25 20mm long bolts, 4 8mm nuts, and 4 M8x1.25 bolts with a flat hex head tapered to the thread so it would sit as flush to the floor as possible.
And installed:
My arms are f'ing tender and tore up right now! It's a tight squeeze to get the bolts in the far corners under the seats.
But the seats are secure. They are super comfy and there is so much leg room. I'm 5'11" and I couldn't ask for any more leg room.

Went to a pull apart today and got a few things for $20
Stocked up on some toyota hardware. Fixed a few small things on my truck and got a pedal cover for the brake pedal.
Got a new bottle jack. New< and >Old
Grabbed some '95 forerunner wiper arms
And I got a tool bag, here is the old one that came with the truck and has trouble holding everything

The tailgate is still drying. The cardboard dried into the paint on spots it was lying on so today I sanded down those spots and added a 1.5 layer. Should be back on tomorrow!

Thank you! It's starting to look pretty good. I still need to find some black mirrors at the junk yard someday.
Thanks! Yeah there's definitely been some progress since I've started. I'm wanting to paint the white part blue, what ever shade and finish they have in a can. Speedway blue would be sick though!
Tailgate is back on.

My friend Dave from a local Honda forum helped tap and rethread the shift knob. I bought him a M12x1.25 tap in exchange for his service. She be installed.
I found some US Wheels Corp. wagon wheels for a steal on craigslist. These ones are 15x7, and the ones on my truck are 15x8. I think I'll use the new set as a city/ mpg set and get some narrow, close to stock sized tires. Then I'll refinish the old set and use those for my offroad expeditions.
BNIB from '97. Gotta love Idaho!

I hope everyone had a great 4th! My friends and I floated the Boise, then had a BBQ at a park, and finished by driving up the mountainside to watch the fireworks over the whole valley.
I snapped some photos at the park to show off my buddies sweet Yota's.
