I installed a new Monroe steering damper today and drove it around for few minutes. Steering feels a little bit tighter to me and the steering wheel is pretty much straight now. Maybe needs to be tweaked a little more to the left.

bud have you checked your frame for rust behind the gas tank? it looks a little funky, might wanna do what dropzone implied with the por15, helps your frame with fighting rust

Yea my whole frame has surface rust which I plan to take care of this year sometime. Been looking at the rattle cans of rustoleom take-care-of-rust paint.

Also checked my battery and alternator today and they are both up to par. Played around with my carb today by looking at this webpage:

http://www.bluebassdesign.com/boonin/carb_faq/

Drove it into town yesterday and it was around 75* and the truck was doing some awful sputtering while idling sometimes. Seemed to sputter between 600-800 rmps fluctuating pretty rapidly IMO. But it is 65* today and it did just fine no issues lol. Held steady at 800 rpms after it warmed up. I think this darn carb is just ornery sometimes lol.

Yea my whole frame has rust. Plan on taking care of it later this year with probably a rattle can of rustoloem.
Also checked my battery and alternator today and they are up to par. Played with my carb too. Drove it to town yesterday to get my wife a dress for Easter and it was around 75* and the truck was doing some bad sputtering while idling sometimes. Seemed to fluctuate between 600-800 rmps pretty rapidly IMO. But today it was 65* today it had no problems. Idled steady at 800 rpms. Sometimes I think this carb is just darn ornery lol.

Been doing some maintenance on the truck lately. Changed the oil and figured out I bought the wrong weight oil so I gotta do it again. Also changed the diff fluid (that crap smells) in the front and rear and I am going to be extending the breathers on the diffs. I ordered a pair of diff breathers from Nissan and I am waiting on them to come in. Repacked the grease in the knuckles too. Also took the distributor cap off and cleaned the rotor arm thingy, it was pretty dirty, and then put some rtv on the cap.

Had been hearing some weird noises coming from the engine bay and come to find out the fan clutch is going bad. Want to upgrade to an electric fan when I do the GM alt converison to help support my winch. I started looking into the engine checking the timing chain and guides making sure that wasnt what the noise was. Glad to see my engine has the metal guides and not plastic.

Starter was also going out. I ordered new contacts before I pulled figuring that was the issue and after I pulled the starter I noticed there was damage from corrosion and possibly shorting out. Picture is a little fuzzy but you can see where the whole is about twice as big as it should be. Im surprised the truck could still start at all. Got a new starter from Autozone. Didn't really want to get one from them but I inspected it before I put it in and looks ok. Starts up fine.

Been busy lately. Went to the scrapyard last Saturday and somehow managed to find a white long bed off an 81 pickup that has very little rust. Has a couple major dents but that's better than rust. Picked it up for $109 without a tailgate. Also got a new tail light to replace my broke passenger side one. I plan to redo the striping on the bed and put it on the rest of the truck too. Matches the interior.

Last night we took the new bed and sat it up in the garage on saw horses and then took my old bed off the truck. What a pain in the butt. Several of the bolts broke off and I had to grind off one by the gas tank (little nervous doing that lol). But got it off and now its time to take care of the frame. It has surface rust I have to clean and then seal it. First option was to use POR-15. Considered doing Rustoleum in a rattle can for now till I have somewhere to really strip the truck down to the frame and blast it clean. Dont really wanna do POR-15 since I cant fully get to the front half of the frame. But idk yet. On a budget since just about all the kitchen appliances have decided to break in the past two weeks so Rustoleum might just have to do for now. Here are some more pics. Also found a nasty rust spot on the lower left of the cab right beside the antifreeze jug in the pic. Gotta repair that.

Need to move my rear shackle hanger forward also to correct that bad angle. Hopefully going back to the scrapyard after work today to finish cutting out the floor pans that had no holes in them. Mine look swiss cheese.

Nice find! That's a great deal for a bed. Our local scrapyards here want at least $200 for a bed.

Yea our other scrap yard wants $225 for a whole bed w/ tailgate. I just came back from the scrap yard again and got two floor pans, windshield wiper motor, and the spare tire setup thing fro $75.

Here are the floor pans I cut out of the truck at the scrapyard. Not in to bad of shape but better than seeing daylight through mine lol.

This is the rest of the decal pattern off the truck I mentioned above. I love the way it looks.

Had to temporary me some tail lights to drive to the car wash. Cops are killer in the small town I live in.

I think I have come up with a way to clean my frame. I got a flap wheel disc for the grinder and cleaned up a spot, just the surface rust not completely down to the frame everywhere and then put a coat of rustoleom rust reformer on it and then I will put a coat of eastwood chassis black on it. I did test spot today with the rustoleom and seems ok.

Cleaned some more of the frame early this morning before its gets hot. +100 degrees is way to hot to work on the truck. Still need to drop the tank to be able to get the other side.
